Inside Ana Escobar’s Home After Learjet Wreckage Tore Through Her Kitchen

Published 20:44 5 Nov 2026 GMTThe Learjet 60's 'elevator' component is being investigated as a potential faultNew images that show the aftermath of the moment parts of the private jet that nosedived to the ground in Florida tore through a woman's home. The Learjet 60 was en route from Austin, Texas to the Bahamas and carried seven passengers onboard alongside two crew members when it crashed at high-speeds and caused a deep crater.Since the November 1 crash, a major investigation has been launched to find out what caused the crash to happen. As of now, the possibility that severe weather conditions may have been a factor, or that a component of the plane was torn from its position on the tale, is to blame.AdvertAs of now, the nine people on board have been identified as tech entrepreneur, Adam Robinson, 45, his wife, Helen Sharp, 40, their two children, Emma, two, and Charlie, four, the children’s nanny Anita Maria Cetina and couple, Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr.Parts of the jet allegedly damaged a woman's home (WPBF25 News)The pilot was Jeff Gregory, 55, and his 20-year-old co-pilot Nathalia Filgueiras.According to Tom Chapman of the US National Transportation Safety Board at a press conference that they found 'the majority of the aircraft's left elevator' in three pieces between 1.3 and 3.8 miles away from the West Palm Beach crash site, which has since caused a number of theories to emerge. One is that the elevator fell off as a result of the plane nosediving, or that it coming off the plane is what caused it to crash. In images that have since been revealed to the public after they were obtained by WPBF 25 News, parts of the elevator were found to have torn through a woman's kitchen. The photos appear to show aircraft metal on the kitchen floor of Ana Escobar’s home, less than a mile away from the site.It also shows her ceiling with a gaping hole through it.Chapman told a press conference Tuesday: “It tells us that at least some components, some pieces of the aircraft, important pieces of the aircraft separated before the impact."The NTSB say that by collecting remaining debris from the crater, they'll be able to find out what really happened to the jet that led to its crash. But first, they need to drain the water from the crater, which they believe holds 'critical aircraft components'.Filgueiras was co-piloting the Learjet 60 when cockpit audio captured her telling air traffic control (ATC) the plane was going down, and fast. She first reported ‘moderate turbulence’ before telling the ATC: “Mayday mayday... we’re descending 10,000ft per minute.”She then said: “Declaring emergency, declaring emergency, we are in an overspeed condition.”The air traffic controller replied to her: “I’m here with you, talk to me."However, she answered: “We are descending 22,000ft, and we are banking 60 degrees.”Her final transmission heard her telling them: “We’re out of time.”Her family told the New York Post that she had also text her boyfriend, Justin, before the crash with details of the flight that allegedly read: “I’ve got turbulence, I’ve got ice.”Featured Image Credit: @‌itsnatfilg/ThreadsTopics: Plane, US News

JonBenét Ramsey’s Brother Reveals the DNA Clue He Wants Retested New

JonBenét Ramsey’s Brother Reveals the DNA Clue He Wants Retested

Published 23:07 5 Nov 2026 GMTBurke Ramsey has spoken out about the case for the first-time in a decade JonBenét Ramsey’s brother says there’s an overlooked clue that could be key to solving the case of who killed his six-year-old sister.Burke Ramsey was just nine-years-old when his sister JonBenét was brutally murdered in the basement of her home in Boulder Colorado on Christmas Day in 1996.Her family found her body the following day, near a ransom note demanding $118,000 for JonBenét's return. An autopsy determined that JonBenét had died of asphyxia by strangulation associated with craniocerebral trauma, and the case was ruled a homicide.AdvertThe shocking case prompted the most expensive criminal investigation in Boulder’s history and a 2003 breakthrough uncovered trace DNA belonging to an ‘unknown male’ on JonBenét's underwear. However, despite several leads and a 30-year investigation by cops no one has ever been charged or convicted with her murder.Burke Ramsey has spoke out about his sister's murder (CBS)Her older brother Burke, 39, has now spoken out for the first time in a decade in the hopes of bringing renewed attention to the case as he says he ‘wants this solved’.Speaking to the Daily Mail, Burke said that the killing of his young sister was the ‘most tragic… awful thing’ to ever happen to him and that it’s ‘tough’ to have it come up in the news every 10 years or so.When asked how he believes the case could be solved, he said the focus should be on determining who the mystery DNA belonged to.“We need to find that match. It's the best evidence we have,' he told the Daily Mail.“It was underneath her fingernails and it didn't match any of us. It's probably the person who did it, you know, and it's the best chance we have to solve this.“And I want it solved. I don't know much about the scientific nitty-gritty and it's hard to learn the details of the case, because it is emotionally taxing. But they need to send those samples to different labs again and keep testing.“Find the match. That will go a long way to bringing justice. It's been 30 years and enough is enough.”Burke went on to stress that the DNA exonerated his family from any involvement in JonBenét’s death, after previous heavy speculation from the public.“The DNA says we didn't do it. I know none of my family did it,” he added.JonBenét's dad thinks a 'masked intruder' is responsibleIn previous interviews, Burke and JonBenét’s dad John has said he believes that an intruder is responsible for the heinous crime.John Ramsey has previously shared his theory on who he believes did it (Helen H. Richardson/ The Denver Post)Speaking to PEOPLE in 2024, he shared his own theory on who was behind the shocking crime but claimed police ‘blew it off’.John told the publication about the case of a masked intruder who broke into the home of a 12-year-old girl in Boulder nine months after his daughter’s murder, and attacked the girl before running off.He said he believes the intruder, who was never caught, could ‘easily have been the same person’ who killed his daughter.“The police blew it off as, ‘No, it's not the same,’” he added. The family’s story is set to be the focus of an upcoming Netflix drama series The Murder of JonBenét Ramsey, which will star Melissa McCarthy as mum Patsy Ramsey, Clive Owen as John, and Angus K. Caldwell as Burke.Featured Image Credit: YouTube/CNNTopics: US News, Crime

Florida Learjet Crash Draws Attention After Tail Parts Found Miles Away New

Florida Learjet Crash Draws Attention After Tail Parts Found Miles Away

Updated 21:04 5 Nov 2026 GMTPublished 16:55 5 Nov 2026 GMTThe plane wreckage, footage of the crash and flight tracking data all provide potential cluesAs the investigation into what caused the deadly plane crash in Florida over the weekend continues, new findings are giving experts a clearer idea about what might have happened. The Learjet 60 was en route to the Bahamas from Austin, Texas, but during the planned trip, the jet came down in Palm Beach County, leaving a large crater in the ground.Tragically, everyone onboard – pilot Jeff Gregory, 55, co-pilot Nathalia Filgueiras, 20, entrepreneur Adam Robinson, 45, his wife Helen Sharp, 40, their toddlers, Emma and Charlie, their nanny, Anita Maria Cetina, and another couple, Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr – lost their lives. As of now, federal authorities are investigating the crash and the subsequent debris field stretching half a mile.AdvertAlthough we're still waiting on the results of the National Transportation Safety Board's (NTSB) investigation, experts are able to speculate about the plane's final moments based on what's been found so far.Part of the jet was found miles awayOfficials with the National Transportation Safety Board say severe weather played a ‘significant factor’ in the crash, but also that part of the jet appeared to have broken off before impact. The NTSB confirmed that the majority of the Learjet's left elevator – a control surface on the tail – was found in three pieces. The Learjet 60 came down on November 1 (Saul Martinez/Getty Images)Board member Tom Chapman said in a briefing that the parts were 'quite some distance away' from the crash site, leading investigators to determine they fell off before impact."Knowing that it was lost is a very important piece of evidence in terms of pointing us towards other things to investigate," he said.Another component of the jet may have been missingAccording to freeze frames from videos, it appears that the entire horizontal stabilizer was missing from the Learjet’s tail before impact, Law&Crime reports. However, this hasn't been officially confirmed. The horizontal stabilizer provides pitch stability. Two competing theories as to when the left elevator broke offExperts are split on when part of the plane's tail broke off.Aviation Safety expert Jeff Guzzetti told the AP that the pieces of the elevator breaking off were likely to be a byproduct of the nosedive, but not the cause. He said that if they had broken off at altitude, they'd be much further away from the crash site.Former NTSB member John Goglia has a different theory, pointing to the fact that flight tracking data appeared to show the aircraft leveling off for a few seconds at around 8,000ft (2,438 meters) before it began to nosedive to the ground. How the plane lost altitude (Facebook/JeffnCheryl Corbin-Gregory/Threads/itsnatfilg/Family Handout)The expert told The Guardian it could be possible that tail pieces came off when the captain of the plane attempted to pull up sharply in an attempt to level out.“He apparently leveled off for brief moments at 8,000ft and to accomplish that he likely overstressed the tail and the horizontal stabilizer separated from the airplane,” Goglia said. The jet could have been put under extreme conditionsRetired former Northwest Airlines pilot Captain David Funk spoke with Law&Crime Network to reveal his thoughts on the matter. To him, the elevator – which he says is positioned at the top of the tail – requires extreme pressure to break it off.He said a plane would have to be 'overstressed and it takes a lot of force to pull an elevator off the airplane'.It caused a crater (Photo by Saul Martinez/Getty Images)Pointing to tracking information which showed the jet 'gained 15,000, maybe 20,000ft in less than 20 minutes' due to a developing storm in the area, he said when the jet climbed to the upper altitude levels above 30,000 feet, 'severe turbulence and rapidly developing clear icing is a possibility'.He said the model in question would be able to withstand only certain speeds, between its maximum operating speed and stall speed."If either one of those are exceeded, the airplane either goes into Mach tuck where the nose tucks down because of the severe drag that's caused by exceeding its maximum Mach number or it stalls."He said this would 'cause the nose to drop down' and the plane could struggle to maintain its altitude. The crews' working conditions will be investigatedIn light of the crash, Captain Funk says investigators will examine whether the pilots had been fatigued, overworked or if this was less of a human error and more that the jet was at fault. He said: "We have our knowns and we have our unknowns. We can figure out what the crew's training records were. We can figure out what they've been doing for the last two weeks. Were they overly fatigued? Have they had long day after long day with short nights between them?"He added of the jet that 'the maintenance records' will come to light which will show if there were known 'structural issues with the tail and there been any repairs, any cracking, any airworthiness directives' and more.He asked whether this could have been a case of the pilots being caught in an 'unsurvivable' storm, or something more.Featured Image Credit: InstagramTopics: Plane, US News

Why UK Fireworks Could Become Much Quieter After This Bonfire Night New

Why UK Fireworks Could Become Much Quieter After This Bonfire Night

Updated 20:38 5 Nov 2026 GMTPublished 20:11 5 Nov 2026 GMTPets were left 'petrified' again this year as fireworks and flares blasted into the sky - but there is a deadline of midnightIt's the night that pet owners dread every year as loud bangs and whistles overtake homes during annual Bonfire Night celebrations. And campaigners are continuing to call on the UK government to protect the welfare of wild animals and domesticated pets by cutting the maximum noise level of fireworks sold to the pubic.Bangers, rockets and screamers have long been part of the annual events, however the Government is still considering proposals to cut the noise of the pyrotechnics by up to 50 percent. It will cover those bought in shops for private use, after pressure from campaigners worried about the welfare of animals.AdvertCelebrations traditionally marked by fireworks and bonfires arrive at the end of October each year, which includes Halloween, Bonfire Night and then Diwali, which falls on 8 November this year. The Government stipulates that on Bonfire Night, firework noise must end by midnight. On New Year’s Eve, Diwali and Chinese New Year, the cut off is 1amDomesticated dogs and cats are known for being terrified (Getty)What are the proposals?Earlier this year, the government announced plans to restrict the loudest fireworks to professional displays and clamp down on the disruption caused by explosive bangs from private displays.A consultation proposed targeted reforms to reduce the noise and risks associated with fireworks, which also included reviewing the banned list of pyrotechnic products and considering updates to the requirements for lower risk products. This would impact privately bought fireworks, with around 20 million people each year putting on their own displays, according to industry figures. The government recently consulted on proposals to lower the maximum noise level from 120dB to 110dB, which equate to their loudness being cut by approximately 50 percent. However ministers said previously that an outright ban on the public buying fireworks would not be proportionate."We are proposing to reassess the risk level of certain pyrotechnic products, which could lead to more restricted access to some products," a statement said.In a press release earlier this year, the Government said: "Concerns about excessively noisy fireworks have been consistently raised by local residents, charities, emergency services and animal welfare organisations."Loud fireworks can cause severe distress to pets, livestock and wildlife, with conservation groups warning that sudden explosions can cause panic, injuries and deaths among animals."Fireworks could become quieter in the UK (Jeff J Mitchell/Getty Images)Animal charities hit out at firework noiseHowever the Center for Wild Animal Welfare (CWAW) has said lowering the limit to 90dB would help to protect millions of wild animals from stress.Richard Parr MBE, director of the Center for Wild Animal Welfare, said: "Fireworks can be fun, but they also cause real suffering for wild animals."As well as scaring our pets, loud bangs can terrify wild animals like foxes, badgers, deer, and birds. Ministers deserve credit for taking action."But the government’s proposed noise cuts don’t go far enough. They should go further and cut the maximum noise limit from 120 to 90 decibels."This would make the area disturbed by fireworks a thousand times smaller. This would be great news for our pets, and for millions of wild animals."The RSPCA is also running a campaign to reform firework laws, calling for stronger noise controls and 'firework free' zones.A UK firework display (Getty Stock)"Most animals have a greater hearing range and higher sensitivity to noise than humans," said Lauren Bennett RVN, Scientific and Policy Officer at the charity's Companion Animals Department."From our pets to nearby farmed animals and local wildlife – the bang of a firework can make us jump, but it can quite literally scare animals to death."On social media on Thursday (5 November), users again hit out at the sound of fireworks and how it was impacting their pets."Tonight has been utterly repulsive and my dogs are shaking and petrified! Ban fireworks!," one user wrote.Another posted their dog was 'absolutely petrified', writing: "He's laid in a dark room with the fan on, calming sounds and the calming radio music bless him."Featured Image Credit: GettyTopics: UK News, Politics, Animals

Elon Musk’s response after $446 million midterm spending sparks reactions

Updated 14:13 4 Nov 2026 GMTPublished 13:21 4 Nov 2026 GMTElon Musk addresses Democrats win after spending $458 million on midtermsIt follows Musk branding one Democratic candidate a 'creep'Elon Musk splashed out nearly half a billion in donations to Republican candidates in the US midterm elections and has since addressed the Democrats win. The result of the US' midterm elections from November 3 has seen the Democrats take control of the House and the Senate.Despite stepping back from his position as lead of Trump's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in May 2025, Musk has far from washed his hands of getting involved in politics, however.Far from it, the long-term supporter of the Republican Party, pouring a staggering sum of $446m (£330 million) into supporting them.AdvertThe money is the largest amount ever spent by an individual donor who isn't a candidate themselves within a single election.Unfortunately for the Republicans, Trump, and Musk, the Democrats gained a majority and now control Congress, in turn, proving not even large wads of Musk's cash can sway an election.Elon Musk spent nearly half-a-billion on the midterms (Win McNamee/Getty Images)Elon Musk's response to Democrats' midterm election winMusk took to X on November 4 to write: "Guess my election-interfering space lasers didn’t work this time [shrug emoji]."And it's not taken long for social media users to weigh in.One user said: "446 MILLION DOLLARS DOWN THE DRAIN LIL PUP."A second wrote: "By space lasers you mean 100s of millions of dollars.Americans voted against MAGA and the billionaire class."Musk has spoken out following the Democrats' win (X/@elonmusk)"Money can't buy class. The name calling was really lame," another added.Indeed, during the Texas US Senate campaign, Musk turned to name-calling the Democratic candidate James Talarico.Musk branded Talarico 'a creep' and 'a far-left extremist' while also funneling most of his millions donated in support of the Republicans into the campaign of Texas candidate Ken Paxton. It also follows Musk speaking out about the location of his SpaceX and Tesla headquarters being in Texas, writing: "Data centers in space looking pretty appealing right now."In his victory speech following the mid-term results, Talarico reflected: "The richest man in the world, the most powerful man in the world, and the entire Washington DC establishment. David wasn’t as big or as strong as Goliath.“He didn’t have as many weapons, but he had hope. He had faith and he had a slingshot.”There were a number of notable moments from the midterms (Brandon Bell/Getty Images/Megan Varner/Getty Images/Austin Johnson / AFP via Getty Images/Mel Musto/Bloomberg via Getty Images)As to what may happen to Musk's headquarters in Texas? I guess we'll have to wait and see.Either way, Musk is convinced that with the Democrats winning comes the 'end of democracy' as we know it.Sharing his 'biggest concerns' on X prior to the election, Musk urged Americans to vote for Republicans, warning that otherwise the Democrats would:"Make DC and Puerto Rico states to gain a strong majority in the Senate.Open the borders and legalize everyone living in America illegally to cement a permanent majority.Increase the size of the Supreme Court to gain an immediate majority. This would result in America becoming a permanent one-party state and the end of democracy in any meaningful sense of the word."He added: "All that is needed to ensure this doesn’t happen is 51 Republican senators in 2029. That is why you should vote for Republican senators this election. Other reasons are irrelevant compared to this one."As one X user resolved: "Spare a thought for Elon Musk. Moves his business to Texas, his home, spends a quarter of a billion dollars and the Dems are going to take it all and regulate him anyway."Featured Image Credit: Finn Gomez/Getty ImagesTopics: US News, Politics, Elon Musk, Donald Trump

Why an Unusual Arctic Event Could Change Britain's Winter Forecast New

Why an Unusual Arctic Event Could Change Britain's Winter Forecast

Updated 16:03 5 Nov 2026 GMTPublished 13:40 5 Nov 2026 GMTHow cold our winter could be may all be down to the rare stratospheric weather phenomenonExperts have revealed how an unusual Arctic weather event near the North Pole could dramatically change the winter that the UK experiences. After some of the hottest days on record this summer, and fears about the El Niño phenomenon wreaking havoc on weather and vital food production globally, sparking stockpiling warnings, exactly what's in store for us this winter can't be confirmed just yet. It's too early to say, but current seasonal models generally favour a milder, wetter, and more unsettled overall pattern for much of the UK.But it also hinges on a weather phenomenon called 'sudden stratospheric warming (SSW)' which is developing due to the polar vortex.AdvertThe illustration of the Polar Vortex (Getty)This is created due to the difference in freezing Arctic and warmer areas further south, which cause a strong ring of winds around the North Pole. And it is impacted directly by El Niño, which causes unusually warm sea-surface temperatures in the tropical Pacific to increase thunderstorm activity. The impacts of El Nino across the world (LADbible)This then releases large amounts of heat and energy into the atmosphere and alters atmospheric circulation. The naturally-occurring climate event impacts weather patterns around the world, which can result in the likes of flooding, droughts or wildfires.'Stratospheric warming'The Met Office has said that the stratospheric polar vortex is currently being disturbed, with signs that a sudden stratospheric warming (SSW) is developing. This is because weather patterns lower down in the atmosphere can push upwards and interfere with polar vortex winds, meaning temperatures high above the Arctic can rise dramatically, sometimes by 30–50°C over a few days.Super El Nino (Getty Stock)The winds around the polar vortex can even reverse direction. The Met Office alert explained: "During autumn, the stratosphere above the North Pole becomes increasingly cold as the Northern Hemisphere receives less sunlight."The growing temperature contrast between the Arctic and lower latitudes helps strengthen a ring of westerly winds around the pole, known as the stratospheric polar vortex."Usually, this vortex is relatively circular. However, large atmospheric waves developing lower down in the troposphere can propagate upwards and disturb it.The SSW impacts in the atmosphere (Severeweather)"These disturbances can stretch the vortex, push it away from the pole or, in some circumstances, split it."That is important because sufficiently strong disturbances can result in a sudden stratospheric warming. In a major SSW, the westerly winds around the polar vortex can reverse and become easterly."Met Office presenter and meteorologist, Aidan McGivern, explained: “El Niño is basically enhancing the waves that go on in the troposphere, the wriggly jet stream."Those waves can then propagate upwards into the stratosphere, knocking, bumping and disturbing that circle of winds around the polar stratosphere, causing it to be displaced, pushed off the pole, deformed or even split.”How will this impact the UK's winter? The Met Office explained that the current weather disturbance is already producing warming in the stratosphere above the North Pole. When an sudden stratospheric warning (SSW) occurs, its effects can weaken the Atlantic jet stream and increase the likelihood of blocking areas of high pressure developing.High pressure over the UK could bring quieter, drier conditions with an increased likelihood of frost and fog.Blocking farther north could encourage easterly winds, while high pressure to the west could make northerly winds more likely. It's too early to predict just how cold the UK will be (Getty)Historically, an SSW increases the chance of colder UK weather, but the outcome is still far from guaranteed. For now, therefore, there can not be a definite forecast for a cold spell.Instead, meteorologists will be monitoring the polar vortex and whether changes in the stratosphere work downwards into the part of the atmosphere.Meteorologist Aidan McGivern added: “We know that El Niños increase the chances, through this chain of events, of sudden stratospheric warmings happening, and we know sudden stratospheric warmings increase the chance of colder weather for the UK."So we’ve got this chain of events that we can start to flag well in advance.”Featured Image Credit: Severeweather.euTopics: Weather, El Niño, Environment, UK News

Elon Musk draws attention as election posts vanish after reported $458m push

Updated 14:04 5 Nov 2026 GMTPublished 13:23 5 Nov 2026 GMTElon Musk supported 106 Republican candidates in the midterms, but only 19 have won so farElon Musk seems to have made moves to hide his stance on the US's midterm elections, which ended with Democrats James Talarico claiming victory onstage in the Texas Senate race, and Michigan's Abdul El-Sayed, who also won his race.Iowa, Georgia, and Arizona are also blue majorities, as the live results continue to roll in.However, Musk's support of the Republican party ended with his alleged X posts being deleted, in which he called for people to 'vote red today' as he endorsed Texas's Ken Paxton before his loss.It also comes as Forbes reported that Musk spent a claim of $458 million to support conservative candidates in both the House and Senate races.AdvertOnline, people on X have reacted and even screenshotted tweets that appear to have been posted by the entrepreneur. But they are no longer available to view.Elon Musk was backing Republicans in the Midterms (Photo by Kevin Dietsch/Getty Images)The removed posts include a pinned October 29 message urging voters to choose Republicans, but social media sleuths say this was taken down by the Tesla founder early Wednesday (October 4) once the Texas results were announced. The Associated Press reported Talarico won his position shortly after 11 p.m. EST on Tuesday, hours before Musk's alleged deletion. At the time of the results being posted for the races, Musk’s profile was seen retweeting posts of analyses about the election and at 1am he tweeted: “Guess my election-interfering space lasers didn’t work this time.”He also posted beforehand: “Data centers in space looking pretty appealing right now.”On Wednesday morning, he claimed Voter ID failed in California' in response to a user writing online: “Voters agreed with Republicans on every policy at issue and then voted Democrat.” This was in reference to the rejection of a California ballot rule that would have mandated voters showing a government-issued photo ID when casting their in-person ballot. In response, one person wrote of Musk's tweets: "Elon Musk is reportedly deleting tweets in which he aggressively urged people to vote for Republicans. But he seems to have forgotten that there are people whose entire job is to screenshot everything posted by famous people. Once it's online, it's never truly gone!"James Talarico took the votes in Texas, despite Musk's support of his opponent (Photo by Brandon Bell/Getty Images)Attached to the post was a video of Musk's profile, which shows the posts. However, when attempting to click on them, a 'nothing here to see – yet' notification pops on the screen.According to the Federal Election Commission, Musk spent $458 million on supporting 106 Republican candidates and their aligned causes, Congress leaders, and in donations to the Texas Senate race, Senate Leadership Fund and key House battlegrounds in New York, New Jersey and Iowa. However, out of the 106 men and women who had Musk's support, come Wednesday, only 19 had won, 47 had lost, and 40 races had yet to be called.Around the same time, Musk's net worth decreased from $878 billion Wednesday.Figures show he lost $23.7 billion and shares in his SpaceX and Tesla ventures both fell.UNILAD reached out to Elon Musk for comment.Featured Image Credit: Finn Gomez/Getty ImagesTopics: Elon Musk, Politics, US News, Twitter

UK Porn Ban Takes Effect November 6—What Possession Could Mean New

UK Porn Ban Takes Effect November 6—What Possession Could Mean

Updated 10:07 16 Oct 2026 GMT+1Published 08:39 16 Oct 2026 GMT+1Anyone who possesses the banned content when the law comes into force could be jailedThe government has confirmed that pornographic content depicting strangulation, incest (including step-incest) or a person pretending to be underage will be banned in the UK from next month.Coming into force on 6 November, the measure will make it illegal to 'possess or publish' pornographic content showing the above three categories.Once the measures come into effect, the UK will have some of the strongest pornography regulations in the world, according to Sky News, and follows previously enforced measures which mean the Brits must provide age verification to enter adult sites."This isn’t about criminalising harmless sexual preferences. But porn can shape what people think a healthy relationship looks like, especially young people," justice minister Alex Davies-Jones said in a statement.Advert"Content that normalises, or even glorifies, violence against women is dangerous and can blur the line with what is acceptable in real life."People possessing the banned content could be jailed for up to three yearsThree types of content have been banned (Imen Ben Youssef / Hans Lucas / AFP via Getty Images)It's not just porn companies the law applies to - possessing the newly criminalised types of porn is also a crime. The maximum penalty for possession is two years in prison for porn depicting strangulation or incest (even if the latter is roleplay), and three years in prison for depicting someone pretending to be under 16.The meaning of 'possession' is decided by the court in each case, but it could include storing the illegal porn on your device, in the cloud or on a personal account, according to the Government website. It includes any illegal porn downloaded before the law comes into force on 6 November that remains on your device or personal account, so if you don't delete it before 6 November, you will be committing a crime.Legal defences include if someone didn't have cause to suspect the content was covered by the law before they possessed it, or if someone sends it to them without them asking for it.Possessing the banned content could land you a three-year prison sentence (Getty Stock Images)The maximum penalty for publication of any of the banned content is five years.Keith Borer Consultancy, which specialises in forensic science consultancy in criminal matters, warned that 'there is the increased risk that people will fall foul of the law by inadvertently stumbling across material (that is lawful elsewhere in the world) when browsing lawful material'.However, they added 'this may not be something that’s been considered by the police'.How will the new law be policed? The government says the new law puts the onus on platforms to remove content featuring strangulation, incest or actors pretending to be underage 'before it reaches users'.Ofcom will be monitoring platforms, and if they don't follow the rules, they can impose a fine of £18 million or 10 percent of the company's worldwide revenue, whichever is higher. Why has the new law been introduced?According to statistics revealed in LADbible's recent FFS campaign, almost one in two respondents revealed that pornography shaped their expectations of real-life sex. At the same time, almost 50 percent of men said it was their main source of sex education.Meanwhile, two-thirds of Gen Z admitted they'd been watching pornographic content since childhood. So when available sexual content depicts acts such as underage or incestual roleplay as well as strangulation, which can cause life-limiting injuries, it's obvious how it can shape harmful views for young people when it comes to sex and relationships.Adult content websites in the UK must now ask Brits to verify their age (Samuel Boivin/NurPhoto via Getty Images)According to a study published by the Institute for Addressing Strangulation in 2024, more than a third of 16- to 34-year-old adults reported being strangled or choked at least once during consensual sex. When it came to 16- to 17-year-olds who were sexually active, 43 percent admitted they had been subjected to strangulation."It is very good news these offences will come into force, and not a moment too soon," said Conservative peer Baroness Gabby Bertin, who conducted a review into pornography in 2025."This change in law alongside better enforcement and stronger regulation will send the unequivocal signal not only to the companies that host and facilitate porn but also to wider society that extreme and violent content that encourages real-life harm is not acceptable."The move has been welcomed by the End Violence Against Women Coalition, with interim director Janaya Walker calling it an 'important step towards tackling the normalisation of violence against women and girls'.“The introduction of this offence is an important recognition of the harm caused by violent pornography and the need to hold an industry accountable for content that depicts and profits from violence against women and girls," she said.Featured Image Credit: (Adobe Stock)Topics: Adult Industry, UK News

Inside the Notorious Prison Holding Joran van der Sloot 4,800 Metres High

Published 22:58 4 Nov 2026 GMTHe resides in a horrific prison 4,800 metres above sea level, but may never be tried for the murder of Natalee HollowayMore than 20 years on from her disappearance, the case of Natalee Holloway is back in the headlines once again following a new Netflix release.Holloway, who mysteriously vanished from the same island as Amy Bradley, who also featured in another Netflix documentary last year, was declared legally dead in 2012 at her own father's request. One of the last people to see the teenager alive was Joran van der Sloot, and while he features heavily in the new feature, which hit our screens earlier today (4 November), the Dutchman has never officially been charged in connection with Hollway's death. This is even more surprising when you learn that in 2023, he actually confessed to her murder, before returning to Peru, where he is currently serving a sentence in one of South America's most notorious prisons - the Challapalca prison.Van der Sloot is being held in a horrific prison 4,800 above sea level that is near impossible to escapeAlthough he did return to the US when he was extradited in connection with Hollway's death, these were on extortion and wire-fraud charges linked to the case, and it was then that he confessed to have killed her using blunt force trauma.AdvertNatalee Holloway vanished in 2005, when she was just 18 (Netflix)He then returned to Peru, as he had already been convicted of the 2010 murder of Peruvian woman Stephany Flores Ramírez. This led him to be held in one of the world’s most notorious prisons, famed for its inhumane treatment of the prisoners. While you might have heard of the notorious prison in El Salvador when Donald Trump has sent thousands of people living in the US who he deemed to be 'illegal aliens', the Challapalca prison has been subject to an appeal since 2005 which states that prisoners are subject to 'cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment'.But any prisoners who are desperate to find a way out of their situation by whatever means necessary have very little chance of doing so, although 17 inmates did manage an uprising back in 2012, which led to the entire staff being replaced despite all 17 inmates being quickly recaptured, apart from one who died from hypothermia in the extremely cold conditions outside the prison's walls.Van der Sloot has requested a transfer after being attacked in prison as ‘multiple inmates want him dead’In April 2024, van der Sloot was injured in a prison brawl at the prison. According to a New York Post report at the time, van der Sloot was attacked by two of his fellow inmates who were then joined by others before prison guards stepped in and broke up the melee. He reportedly sustained several bruises and lacerations in the incident and was taken to see medical staff before being released back into the prison’s general population. A Peru National Penitentiary Institute (NPI) spokesperson told that outlet that high-profile inmates, such as van der Sloot, are seen as vulnerable while in prison. Joran van der Sloot has never been convicted over Natalee's killing, despite his confession (Netflix)“A lot of people want him dead,” they added. Emil Quinones, who served time with van der Sloot in an Alabama prison after he was extradited to the US, said the Dutch national was ‘arrogant’ and ‘cocky’. “He walks around jail like he’s the boss. Demands what he wants, treats other guys like s**t. He made a lot of enemies because he’s such an a**hole.”Quinones also said that he wouldn’t be surprised if van der Sloot never got out of prison. “All he really knows is prison and I think he likes it. He’ll either reoffend to stay in jail, or he’ll be killed by someone,” he added. Van der Sloot’s lawyer Maximo Altez has previously said that his client ‘hates’ Challapalca prison and has asked to be moved to another prison. In a 2023 NewsNation report, his lawyer Altez said: “Van der Sloot is imprisoned in the worst prison in the world. Any prison in the United States is a five-star hotel.” Joran van der Sloot has spent more than a decade at the notorious Challapalca prison (ERNESTO BENAVIDES/AFP via Getty Images)Michael Whisonant, a former prosecutor involved in van der Sloot's 2010 indictment, told the NewsNation: “I am very pleased to see that he will probably serve 20-years in the worst prison in the world.”Host Dan Abrams pointed out that as van der Sloot had already served around a decade at this point, it was ‘likely he’s going to be out as a relatively young man’. However, Whisonant disagreed, telling the host: “Well, I’m not sure I would say young. If you’re looking at the conditions he’s going to be living in for the next 20 years, I think that’ll age him somewhat.”He also noted that even if van der Sloot is released early, he’ll be headed to the US to serve time in a federal penitentiary. Van der Sloot’s case - and chilling confession for the death of Natalee - has received renewed attention following the release of the new three-part Netflix docu-series Taken: Natalee Holloway.Taken: Natalee Holloway is available to stream on Netflix now.Featured Image Credit: Sebastian Silva/AFP via Getty ImagesTopics: Crime, Netflix, TV and Film

Donald Trump Jr. Draws Attention After Backing JD Vance’s Iran Critique

Published 00:53 5 Nov 2026 GMTThe president’s eldest son co-signed the Vice President’s blunt post-election diagnosis that military conflict led to GOP lossA stunning public rift has broken out inside Donald Trump’s inner circle following catastrophic Republican losses in the 2026 midterm elections, with Vice President JD Vance and Donald Trump Jr. openly pinning the defeat on the ongoing war in Iran.In a sweeping post-election post on X, Vance dismantled standard party spin to deliver a brutal diagnosis of why voters deserted the GOP in historic numbers."The reason we lost is the war," Vance stated bluntly, warning party leaders against sugarcoating the wipeout that saw Republicans lose control of both the House and the Senate."If you'd like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that's at least honest," Vance wrote. "But everyone knows why we lost. And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there."AdvertVance cited key voter grievances that pushed 2024 Trump voters toward Democrats, explicitly pointing to demands to "End the war," "Focus on cost of living/inflation," "Put America First," and "Change our relationship to Israel."Don Jr. co-signs Vance’s indictmentIn an extraordinary move that deepens the divide within the MAGA movement, Donald Trump Jr.—long considered his father’s most aggressive political enforcer—publicly broke ranks to endorse Vance’s blistering critique.Sharing Vance's thread on X, the 48-year-old wrote simply: "Every word of this 💯💯💯"The public co-sign marks one of the sharpest ideological splits between the President and his eldest son, positioning both Don Jr. and Vance firmly on the non-interventionist, populist side of an erupting party civil war.Despite the Republicans losing favour with voters, Trump still doubled down on his actions ( Kevin Dietsch/Getty Images)Trump defends conflict: "I'd have to do it again"Speaking to reporters outside the White House, President Trump pushed back against his second-in-command's claims, doubling down on the military campaign even as he conceded the short-term economic damage."Well, I think it's largely true, because it drove gasoline up a little bit short-term," Trump said when asked about Vance’s comments. "And probably that's true."However, Trump refused to express regret over the decision to wage war:"At the same time, if I had to do it again, I'd have to do it again, because long-term, it's the only answer. You can't let Iran have a nuclear weapon," Trump insisted. "I knew the war was gonna impact [the election results]. I would've done nothing different."He also dismissed calls to shake up his national security team, firmly ruling out the firing of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth: "No, I think he's doing a very good job."With Democrats sweeping into power on Capitol Hill and prominent MAGA voices clashing in full public view, the post-election fallout signals a contentious new chapter for Trump's administration—facing a hostile Congress and mounting rebellion from within his own ranks.Featured Image Credit: Tom Brenner/Getty ImagesTopics: Election, Politics, Donald Trump, JD Vance

Donald Trump Jr. draws attention after backing JD Vance’s Iran criticism

Published 23:50 4 Nov 2026 GMTTrump's eldest son appears to have sided with JD Vance after the he blamed his father's war with Iran for the Republicans' midterms lossesDonald Trump Jr. has backed JD Vance after he launched a scathing attack on his dad following the Republican party’s performance in the midterms.Trump’s Republican party lost control of both the House and the Senate in the midterms, in scenes that were branded ‘worse than anyone thought’.The elections will help shape the final two years of Trump’s second and final term as President and mean the Republicans’ power in the US will be limited. And, as you might have expected, most Republicans aren’t taking the loss too well, with Trump already promising to 'do something big' in response’.AdvertMeanwhile, Vice-President Vance laid the blame at Trump’s war against Iran.In a lengthy post shared on X, Vance said ‘the real reason we lost is obvious to almost everyone’.JD Vance issued a scathing attack on President Donald Trump (Andrew Harnik/Getty Images)"The reason we lost is the war,” he continued. “The president himself said so last night. If you'd like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so.”Trump has since acknowledged the Iran war impacted the elections but said the ‘Iran thing’ was something he had to do.Hitting back, he told reporters: "The Iran thing we had to do, and we continue to do it.”He continued: "I can tell you that as far as that war is concerned, I would have done nothing different.”Trump also said that if he had been on the ballot, he believed 'we would have won'."But they just, you couldn't transfer that love. There was such love at those rallies, it was incredible and we weren't able to transfer the love to candidates," he said. However, it seems his eldest son Donald Trump Jr. has sided with the VP.Trump Jr shared Vance’s post onto his own X account, and wrote: ‘every word of this is...' before adding three Hundred Points emojis.Iranian officials have also suggested the midterm results were due to the conflict.Iran’s chief negotiator and parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, wrote on X: “Conscience or the cost of living, Americans said NO TO WAR, and we endorse this message.”JD Vance's statement on the midterm elections in full"One of the things the data analysts on our side obsessed over was "composition"—whether the electorate looked close enough to 2024 for Republicans to win. And despite polls that showed a Democrat blowout, the data kept on telling us the same story: in some states turnout was merely OK, in other states it was downright amazing, and in no state was it catastrophic. There was a genuine sense of optimism on our team: our people were showing up."So, I asked the smartest data guy I know, does that mean we're going to shock the world? "No," he told me. "We might do better than the polls suggest. But the data is telling us that a lot of Trump/Vance 2024 voters are p****d and planning to vote for the other guys. Our voters are turning out, but they may not vote for us.""Well, that looks prophetic now. Our voters did show up. In Florida, for example, the electorate was 9 points more Republican than Democrat, just a couple points worse than 2024. Undoubtedly there were places we could have done better on turnout. But the main problem is not turnout. The main problem is that many people who voted for Trump/Vance in 2024 voted for Democrats in 2026."There will be a lot of infighting and arguing over what happened and why that is. One of the pollsters I really respect told me that our economic messaging wasn’t sharp enough down the stretch. I’m sure that’s true. But the real reason we lost is obvious to almost everyone."Another pollster—one of the smartest people I know in politics, told me yesterday we’d lose the generic ballot by 13 points. I felt negative going into Tuesday, but even I was shocked by this. In his polling, he saw that a lot of Trump 2024 voters were angry and planning to vote for Democrats. He asked those voters who had abandoned us what would cause them to come back on our team. The top four answers, accounting for nearly all of the responses were:1) End the war2) Focus on cost of living/inflation3) Put America First4) Change our relationship to Israel"Our voters showed up. And the above four reasons are why many of them voted for Democrats. This is according to a pollster who nailed the results. While many spent Monday attacking Rachel Campos Duffy for calling for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, it turns out her political advice was sound. (She’s also a great person.)"In the next few months, there's going to be a lot of gaslighting. Expect to hear any number of establishment politicians say the solution to our woes is amnesty. I'm open to the idea that we should change enforcement—by focusing more on businesses that hire illegal labor, for instance. But anyone pushing amnesty is lying to you."The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night. If you'd like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that's at least honest. But everyone knows why we lost. And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there."I remain hopeful about our country. To the people who are p****d off and want to say, “I told you so”: you’re right, you did tell us so. Take that energy into electing Republicans who share your worldview. To the people who are just p****d at the results, you should be. Let’s take that anger and get back to the work of saving our country."Featured Image Credit: Tom Brenner/Getty ImagesTopics: US News, Politics, Donald Trump

Allan Lichtman Reveals Four Reasons Behind Republicans’ Midterm Loss

Allan Lichtman Reveals Four Reasons Behind Republicans’ Midterm Loss

Updated 21:24 4 Nov 2026 GMTPublished 19:32 4 Nov 2026 GMT'Investigations, but not impeachment, should be the watchword for Democrats', the historian states A political historian who correctly predicted a bruising midterm defeat for the Republicans has identified four key reasons for their huge loss. Before the 2026 midterms, Allan Lichtman, who has predicted nine of the 11 last US presidents, predicted that the previous scandals could harm Texas' Ken Paxton. Once again, he was correct, with one of the biggest surprises of the elections being James Talarico's victory, making him the first Democrat to win a US Senate seat in Texas since 1988.Addressing the huge loss across the country, Trump said it was down to the fact he 'wasn't on the ballot'. However, Lichtman believes it was much more than that.Speaking to UNILAD, Lichtman, author of the new book Great American Presidents, says: "Four strikes stood against the party in power this year, an unprecedented combination in modern midterm history, which I predicted in advance of the election based on historical patterns and granular, contemporary information."AdvertThe Republicans suffered a huge loss at the 2026 midterms (Photo by Finn Gomez/Getty Images)According to the historian, these include:The war in IranThe economy, above all the cost of everyday life.Corruption and the health of the democracy. The president's deep unpopularity, which Lichtman claimed was 'simply the sum of the other three.'"Exit polls put [Trump's] approval at 38 percent, lower than George W. Bush's in 2006, when his party also lost both chambers. Americans do not dislike a president in the abstract. They dislike what he has done," the historian further explains."Republican candidates learned the truth of one of Lichtman’s laws of American politics: You cannot run away from your own party's president," he continues. However, Lichtman tells Americans that they should not 'expect any ideological shift on the part of Republicans'."In the House and Senate, Republicans have given in to the president, not primarily because they fear him, but because they agree with him," he claims. "The new Senate may even be more conservative than before, with the loss of Susan Collins in Maine and Thom Tillis in North Carolina, who did not run for reelection."Allan Lichtman says the midterms are a 'major victory for Ukraine' (Photo by PEDRO UGARTE/AFP via Getty Images)He also stresses that Trump still has significant presidential powers, something the White House isn't letting the people of America forget.Taking to its X account on November 3, The White House posted: "PSA: TRUMP IS STILL YOUR PRESIDENT."Although there has been discussion about whether the Democrats will seek to impeach Trump, the historian argues that the party should focus investigating issues such as the war in Iran, the tariff wars, the corruption and grift, the Epstein files, and the threat to democracy."Conviction is almost impossible in the Senate and Trump will trumpet the failure to convict as a vindication of this presidency," the historian explains. As well as the Democrats, Lichtman tells us that the result is also a victory for Ukraine, as he says the country will have more support in both the US House and Senate.Featured Image Credit: Larry French/Getty Images for SiriusXMTopics: Donald Trump, Election, US News
