Wolf Attack on Girl, 8, Raises Questions at German Wildlife Park New

Wolf Attack on Girl, 8, Raises Questions at German Wildlife Park

Published 18:59 28 Oct 2026 GMTThe wildlife park has been closed while an investigation goes aheadAn eight-year-old girl was airlifted to hospital after being attacked by a wolf at a wildlife park in Germany, with police saying she was seriously injured in the animal enclosure.Bild reports that the attack occurred today (28 October) at Wildpark Johannismühle, located in the town of Baruth/Mark which is situated south of the German capital of Berlin.Police responded at around 9:30am local time to calls that a child had been attacked by animals, with a rescue helicopter deployed. They told the outlet that a child was 'attacked and seriously injured by at least one wild animal in an animal enclosure while she was there with two other children and a staff member'.AdvertAccording to the wildlife park's website it doesn't officially open until 10am, and a message there now says it will remain closed until 2 November. The wildlife park is home to a number of animals, including wolves (Schöning/ullstein bild via Getty Images)An investigation into the circumstances of the animal attack are ongoing, including why the children were inside the enclosure before the park's opening time, with Bild reporting that the girl suffered severe injuries to the head as a result of the attack.Rescue workers and park staff are reportedly receiving support after the wolf attack.Wildpark Johannismühle has both grey and arctic wolves among the many animals kept there, which also includes a veritable menagerie of other wildlife including bears, bison, lynx, deer and llamas to name just a few. While they are popular attractions, wildlife parks can be extremely dangerous for guests who end up in close proximity to the animals. In the UK a recent incident where a man entered a tiger's enclosure resulted in his death after the animal mauled him, though it has since been confirmed that the animal will not be put down as a result.Police said the girl was attacked at 9:30am, before the park's official opening time (Wildpark Johannismühle/Instagram)In that instance witnesses described the man climbing into the animal enclosure himself, with zookeepers doing 'everything they could' to try and scare off the tiger.Staff had evacuated the park as a consequence of the tiger attack and several gunshots were fired into the air as they attempted to scare the animal away.During that incident the animal did end up fleeing and hiding in a corner of the enclosure while the man's body was recovered, with a black screen being erected around it to keep out prying eyes. The wildlife park there remained closed for several days afterwards in order to allow investigators to work.LADbible Group have contacted Wildpark Johannismühle and the police for further comment.Featured Image Credit: Wildpark Johannismühle/InstagramTopics: Animals, World News

Kayla Christensen Draws Outrage After Allegedly Denying She Had a Daughter New

Kayla Christensen Draws Outrage After Allegedly Denying She Had a Daughter

Inset: Kayla M. Christensen (Newton County Jail). Background: The Missouri truck stop where Christensen allegedly abandoned her 4-year-old daughter (Google Maps).A Missouri woman is accused of abandoning her 4-year-old daughter at a truck stop in the middle of the night, then telling police she did not have a daughter.Kayla Marie Christensen was taken into custody last week and charged with one count of first-degree child abandonment and two counts of first-degree child endangerment, court records show.In a criminal complaint filed in Newton County, Missouri, prosecutors allege Christensen left the girl at a Love's Travel Stop before dawn on Oct. 23.The investigation began shortly before 3 a.m. Friday, when officers with the Neosho Police Department responded to a report of a young child alone in the travel stop's parking lot.Police said Christensen intentionally left the 4-year-old at the truck stop and did not plan to return for her.As she allegedly drove away from her daughter, Christensen had her two other young children, both boys, in the car with her, police said. At the time, she allegedly did not have either child properly restrained in car seats, and both were in close proximity to "suspected drug paraphernalia," according to police, which led to the endangerment charges. The paraphernalia allegedly included syringes. Police said that driving under such circumstances "created a substantial risk of injury not only to the children but also to other motorists and members of the public," according to the affidavit.Police also said that when officers tracked her down and asked about the 4-year-old, Christensen claimed her only children were the two boys. The affidavit refers to the girl as "JV1.""As [the victim's] mother and person legally responsible for her care, [Christensen] left four-year-old JV1 with the purpose of wholly abandoning her under circumstances likely to result in serious physical injury or death, as evidenced by knowingly driving away, failing to return, and later denying that she had a daughter," the affidavit states. After the alleged abandonment, Christensen allegedly left her two sons inside her car while she went into a casino in Wyandotte, Kansas, according to a report from Joplin, Missouri, news radio station KZRG. There did not appear to be any record of Christensen being arrested in Wyandotte County as of Oct. 26.Records show Christensen was arrested on the night of Oct. 23, but she did not appear to be in custody as of Oct. 27. It was not immediately clear when she was scheduled to appear in court.

Dan Bongino’s Stockpile Warning Puts These Emergency Items in Focus New

Dan Bongino’s Stockpile Warning Puts These Emergency Items in Focus

Updated 16:05 28 Oct 2026 GMTPublished 18:35 27 Oct 2026 GMT"Get your stuff today. Please. Do it for your family," the former FBI Deputy Director said This article contains paid shopping links. LADbible Group receives a small payment if you click on these links or make a purchase through them.Dan Bongino, the former FBI Deputy Director, has urged Americans to have at least three days of food and power ready as governments overseas and the Pentagon plan for emergencies. "Have yourself an emergency radio, have yourself some batteries, get yourself some emergency food, get yourself a rain collection and water filtration, some filtration tablets," Bongino said on the The Dan Bongino Show podcast on Monday.“Get your stuff today. Please. Do it for your family,” he added, urging the public to do what the UK and European governments are telling their citizens: have a preparedness plan."The best day of your life, you don't need them. And in 10 years, you're like, 'Ah, I wasted $1,000 or whatever.'AdvertThe worst day in your life is your kids looking you in the face like, 'Hey Dad, Mom, where's the water?' And, 'Well, we don't have any.'Bongino issued a stern warning (YouTube/Dan Bongino)"Please, do it for everyone. Your neighbors are not going to have any extra food.”What is the US government advising people to stockpile? The US federal government, through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Ready.gov, is advising households to stockpile a basic disaster supplies kit with enough food, water, and emergency gear to last for at least three days, and ideally up to two weeks for sheltering needs.Under current guidelines, Americans are being urged to secure one gallon of water per person, per day for drinking and sanitation, alongside a multi-day supply of non-perishable foods like canned goods, protein bars, and peanut butter that require no cooking. Some of the items the US government recommends stockpiling (UNILAD/Getty Stock Images)The checklist extends well beyond the pantry, recommending battery-powered or hand-crank NOAA weather radios, flashlights, extra batteries, first aid kits, a seven to ten day supply of critical prescription medications, and essential sanitation items like garbage bags and moist towelettes.Local maps, cell phone power banks, dust masks, and plastic sheeting and duct tape for sheltering in place are also heavily emphasized.Bongino's warning came just hours after details of FORTRESS were revealed, a Pentagon plan to keep US forces fighting and military bases stocked for at least 90 days, even if civilian infrastructure fails.Pentagon chief spokesperson Sean Parnell told Fox News: “We don’t want to rely on standard civilian municipal infrastructure to run our national defense.”Pentagon chief spokesperson Sean Parnell told Fox News the Pentagon does not want to rely on civilian municipal infrastructure to run national defense (Roy Rochlin/Getty Images)The plan calls for portable nuclear reactors, large battery systems and independent local power grids to keep bases running through blackouts, plus civilian factories ready to switch to defense production and stockpiles of ammunition, fuel, critical minerals and medical supplies.Bongino, who has also worked for the Secret Service and NYPD, said on his podcast: “The Pentagon’s doing its job to keep our national security safe and make ‘Fortress America'. You have to make ‘Fortress my house', ‘Fortress my apartment'."Where else in the world is stepping up emergency preparedness? This tightening of domestic preparedness mirrors a rapid escalation in civil defense warnings stretching across the Atlantic and into Asia.Governments in the UK, Sweden, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, and France have all recently encouraged households to keep food, water, medicines, and other essentials readily available for sudden emergencies. The UK’s updated guidance, released this month, explicitly recommends three days of supplies in case severe weather, cyberattacks, or other disruptions interrupt essential services.Japan's Disaster Management Minister Goshi Hosono has announced that on November 2 every household will be urged to keep at least three days of food, water and toilet supplies (Akio Kon/Bloomberg via Getty Images)Across the Pacific, Japan’s Disaster Management Minister Goshi Hosono announced that the nation will formally urge every household to keep at least three days of food, water, and toilet supplies in anticipation of a major natural disaster, such as a large earthquake or volcanic eruption.Bongino, 51, said ‘panic kills’ and that the best way to avoid disaster is to prepare for the worst-case scenario.“I was not in the military. I haven’t been in combat but ask your heroes who have been. They will tell you: you can’t panic,” he said.Featured Image Credit: Andrew Harnik/Getty ImagesTopics: US News

El Niño death map reveals where extreme heat could hit hardest New

El Niño death map reveals where extreme heat could hit hardest

Published 14:44 28 Oct 2026 GMTThe interactive map shows where the predicted deaths from the El Niño are likely to fallResearchers from the Climate Impact Lab have put together a map showing the predicted death toll in each country from the predicted consequences of the El Niño.They're warning that due to the extreme heat from the El Niño they're expecting the weather event to contribute to around 857,000 total extra deaths around the world, with over 372,000 of those projected to come in the next six months.Developing the grimly named 'El Niño Heat Mortality Tracker', they've made an interactive map where you can check out the countries of the world and see which ones have the highest predicted death tolls.Professor Michael Greenstone, a co-founder of the Climate Impact Lab, said: "Our research puts new forecasting capabilities to work to answer one of the most urgent questions we face: where is extreme heat likely to cost lives? Advert“Being able to anticipate the deadly effects of extreme heat is a major step forward. It means we can identify where people face the greatest risks and give decision-makers a chance to act before lives are lost.Defences are being put in place against the impacts of El Niño, but the high heat is expected to be punishing (Sarah Reingewirtz/MediaNews Group/Los Angeles Daily News via Getty Images)"The Tracker provides this information for the Super El Niño we’re living through today.”Their findings have identified that the vast majority of predicted additional heat deaths from El Niño will be in the global south, with Nigeria identified as the country likely to suffer the most extra deaths. Also predicted is that India will see a significant number of deaths at the end of the next six months, with March expected to be a particularly difficult moment for enduring the heat.Indonesia has also been identified as another country likely to be significantly affected by the heating from El Niño, and Assistant Professor Tamma Carleton said the information they'd gathered 'highlights where action is most urgently needed'.She said: "The data also underscore the importance of addressing extreme heat and its deadly consequences in preparing for El Niño, alongside the extensive work already underway to combat threats to food security."The predicted additional deaths from the El Niño make for concerning reading (LADbible/Climate Impact Lab)Nigeria, India, Indonesia, Brazil and Sudan are predicted as the countries that will lose most people as a consequence of the El Niño, and identified which regions of specific countries are most likely to be badly affected. For example, they've got the US states of California and North Carolina both in the red zone where the predicted loss of life is highest, but elsewhere in the country the expected threat level is significantly lower. The south of China is identified by the interactive map as a prominent danger zone, but the north of the country isn't predicted to have the same levels of destruction. It paints a worrying picture of the impacts the El Niño will have on the world.Featured Image Credit: Climate Impact LabTopics: El Niño, World News, Weather

West Virginia Couple Accused of Turning Orphans’ Home Into ‘House of Horrors’

Left: Clifford Gale Sayre. Right: Erica Lynn Sayre (Jackson County Sheriff's Department).A West Virginia couple tormented three orphans who were living with them with disturbing punishments, including dumping "soiled cat litter in their beds" and "dog feces on personal items," according to law enforcement officials.Erica Lynn Sayre, 45, and her husband, Clifford Gale Sayre, 46, both of Evans, are facing multiple charges following an investigation into allegations of prolonged physical and emotional abuse, according to the Jackson County Sheriff's Department. The couple allegedly tortured three orphaned children, ranging in age from 12 to 17, who had been living with them for several years after their parents died."During a forensic interview, the children summarized the situation by stating, 'Because mom hits us and Gale lets her' and went on to describe being tormented and harassed about their deceased biological parents," according to a JCSD press release."The investigation uncovered allegations of many years of disturbing mistreatment, including children being repeatedly struck, strangled, deprived of food and water, denied bathroom privileges, dumping soiled cat litter in their beds and dog feces on personal items, and forced to run barefoot on a gravel driveway as means of punishment for any conflicts with Erica," the release says. The investigation uncovered allegations that the children were struck with household objects, causing bleeding injuries. The Sayres also allegedly placed "soiled" socks in the children's mouths and "forcibly cut" their hair, the sheriff's department says."One child described being struck in the head with an electronic device, causing a bleeding injury for which she was denied medical treatment," the JCSD release alleges. "One of the children was threatened to be killed if she contacted Child Protective Services."During interviews, one of the children "became visibly emotional" and declared, "I can't go back to that home," according to the sheriff's department. Another child described "years of alleged abuse" and expressed that she "just wants a normal life," per the JCSD release.Erica Sayre faces three counts of child abuse resulting in bodily injury and three counts of child neglect creating a risk of injury. Clifford Sayre faces three counts of child neglect resulting in bodily injury and three counts of child neglect creating a risk of injury.Authorities allege that Clifford Sayre witnessed repeated instances of abuse and failed to intervene. Investigators allegedly documented scars consistent with portions of the children's accounts. Authorities said the children's statements corroborated one another and the physical evidence that was gathered during the investigation.Child Protective Services was contacted, and all three children were removed from the home, the sheriff's department reports."The outlined findings of the investigation are deeply troubling and underscore the importance of reporting suspected child abuse, as the children were all living in a real life 'House of Horrors' with the adults in their lives that should have otherwise been protecting them from such occurrences and conditions, not creating them," Jackson County Sheriff R.H. Mellinger said in a statement Monday.

Great White Shark Lunges After Woman Tries to Pet It New

Great White Shark Lunges After Woman Tries to Pet It

Published 09:14 28 Oct 2026 GMTWhen you let your intrusive thought win... A video has gone viral of a shark 'lunging' towards a woman who decided to 'pet it like it's the family dog' while leaning over the side of a boat. On today's episode of people letting their intrusive thoughts get the better of them... A video has gone viral on social media showing the moment a woman reached down off a boat she was on to touch the head of a great white shark. Yup. A group from Knot Lucky Fishing were on a boating trip of Tybee Island, Georgia in the US, when they decided to pause and get up close and personal with some sea creatures. The organisation takes active duty service members, veterans and their families on free fishing trips, alongside its the White Shark Tagging Program with Starbrite, Project SeaSafe and Gray FishTag Research. AdvertThe program sees sharks caught, tagged and released back into the wild. However, during one encounter between one of its veterans and a shark, the woman decided to reach down and 'pet' the shark.Although, as Knot Lucky Fishing said in its post to Facebook to share footage, the apex predator 'had other ideas'. Indeed, the video shows the moment a hand reaches down and gives the shark a few strokes on the back of its head, as if it's 'the family dog'.Cue the shark then looking a bit peeved off. I wouldn't be too happy either... (Facebook/ Knot Lucky Fishing) The next moment, the animal appears to lunge forwards, its mouth colliding with the boat - instead of her hand, thankfully. As Knot Lucky Fishing said: "Everybody on the boat felt that one in their chest."And it's not taken long for social media users to weigh in. One Facebook user wrote: "Why are we petting great white sharks?" "'Lunged'. I think the shark was far more interested in getting off the hook than trying to take a bite out of the woman," another added. A third wrote: "Why would you want to pet a shark?"And a fourth added: "What does one expect from a shark trying to protect itself?!"However, the organisation argues that the woman, named Jen, 'was never in real danger'. "The crew had that shark under control the whole time, and it never got close enough to do any harm," the post details. "But that reaction right there is a reminder of exactly what these animals are. Beautiful. Powerful. Wild. They deserve every ounce of respect we can give them." The organisation goes on to note this is what its 'White Shark Tagging Program is all about'. It continues: "We catch, tag, and release great whites to collect real research on where they go and how they live, and every shark we tag carries the name of a fallen brother. Science and honor on the same deck. "Huge thanks to Starbrite and Gray's FishTag Research for standing with us and making this mission possible. "And a big shout out to Ambio Life Sciences. Ambio is where I first physically felt God. In that moment I knew serving others was my life's purpose, and three days later I started running Knot Lucky full time. Every trip, every tag, every veteran on this boat traces back to that day. Thank you for saving my life, and for every veteran you keep saving."Although, Knot Lucky Fishing did note the shark in the video didn't end up getting tagged as the crew 'never had a safe shot' and 'will never force it'. It added: "The shark's safety and the crew's safety come first, every single time, so we let that shark go to swim another day."Featured Image Credit: FOX WeatherTopics: Animals

Illinois Toddler’s Death Draws Scrutiny After Hair Found in Oven Door New

Illinois Toddler’s Death Draws Scrutiny After Hair Found in Oven Door

Inset, left to right: Courtney N. Heath and Payton M. Beaver (WCIA). Background: The residence in Illinois where authorities found the victim shortly before her death (Google Maps). The father and babysitter of an Illinois toddler are accused of killing the 23-month-old girl, who died from infected thermal burns allegedly suffered in a home where the toddler's hair was found inside an oven door. The babysitter, Courtney N. Heath, and the father, Payton M. Beaver, each face one count of first-degree murder, in addition to charges of child endangerment causing death.According to a press release from the Paris Police Department, officers, firefighters and emergency medical personnel responded to a residence in the 200 block of West Edgar Street on Sept. 21 for a 911 call concerning a juvenile suffering seizures. An ambulance transported the victim to Horizon Health Paris Community Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 7:42 p.m.The Edgar County Coroner's Office issued its final autopsy findings on Oct. 22, ruling that the toddler's cause of death was "sepsis due to scalding thermal burns" and determining the manner of death was a homicide. The child's name is being withheld, though she is referred to as "Z.B." in court documents. The charging documents allege that Heath "allowed" the toddler to suffer the fatal burns while Beaver "was aware" of her injuries and did not seek medical assistance for about 32 hours, at which point it was too late for the victim, Champaign, Illinois-based CBS affiliate WCIA reported. The allegations against the defendants were detailed in a probable cause affidavit obtained by Terre Haute, Indiana, NBC affiliate WTWO.Heath allegedly told investigators that the child had been burned in a hot shower. But the affidavit reportedly states that "the E.R. doctor noted the injuries Z.B. sustained were not consistent with a water or shower burn." Additionally, investigators found hairs consistent with the toddler's hair "inside an oven door with follicles attached."The babysitter said she applied aloe vera gel to the burns, which continued to worsen while the child was in her care. She reportedly kept the toddler overnight before returning her to her father at 4:30 a.m. on Sept. 21.Beaver then cared for the girl until 5:30 p.m., police said. During that time he allegedly saw her injuries but decided not to seek assistance because he thought he might get in trouble."He admitted seeing the injuries and treating them with triple antibiotic ointment but did not intend to seek medical care, due to being too concerned about being arrested," investigators wrote.Later that afternoon, Heath bought burn gel and gauze at Dollar General, picked the child up from Beaver and took her to Heath's residence to tend to the wounds, the affidavit states. Shortly after they arrived, Heath said the toddler went limp and began having seizures. She contacted Beaver before calling 911 at 6:59 p.m."During his interview, Payton [Beaver] admitted that he knew Z.B. needed to be [seen] by a doctor, but refused to seek medical attention due to his own concern of being arrested," the affidavit states. Both defendants remain in the Edgar County Jail without bond. They are scheduled to appear in court again on Nov. 20.

Why the Pentagon Wants US Bases Off-Grid for 90 Days New

Why the Pentagon Wants US Bases Off-Grid for 90 Days

Published 00:15 28 Oct 2026 GMTUS military bases are being ordered to operate off-grid for three months as officials prepare for domestic cyber and infrastructure attacksThe Pentagon is overhauling its readiness doctrine under a sweeping defense directive dubbed the FORTRESS initiative, requiring major domestic military installations to operate completely off-grid for at least 90 days in the event of a catastrophic global war or crippling cyberattack.Formally known as Federal Operations for Resilience, Troop Resources, Energy, Supply, and Survivability, the initiative aims to insulate the United States armed forces from vulnerabilities tied to civilian utilities, severed supply routes, and hostile sabotage.Under the directive, domestic military bases must ensure they can generate their own electricity, pump independent water supplies, and sustain frontline operations for three full months without relying on public infrastructure. The Domestic Threat: Why Civilian Infrastructure Is an 'Intolerable Risk'The defense blueprint addresses mounting intelligence fears that a near-peer conflict—involving major adversaries like China or Russia—would likely begin not on a distant foreign battlefield, but with coordinated strikes against America’s domestic homeland.Cyber intrusions targeting municipal electrical grids, pipeline sabotage, and drone strikes could blind cities, sever communications, and incapacitate military mobilization before a single troop transport leaves American soil.AdvertPentagon leadership has warned that municipal dependence poses a catastrophic hazard to continuity of command."We don't want to rely on standard civilian municipal infrastructure to run our national defence. We just simply can't. It's an intolerable risk," Pentagon chief spokesperson Sean Parnell warned. "Power is combat now. Without electricity, you lose communications, water, logistics, assembly lines and just basic military command structures."The plan is part of the administration's latest move to protect US civilians should an enemy launch an attack (Samuel Corum/Sipa/Bloomberg via Getty Images)Microreactors and Off-Grid MicrogridsTo counteract total power failure, the Pentagon's 90-day survival model is centered around radical energy independence. The Department of Defense plans to deploy mobile nuclear microreactors, large-scale industrial battery arrays, and localized microgrids that can automatically sever ties with civilian networks the moment an attack or grid collapse occurs.Under this framework, strategic command hubs, airfields, and missile launch sites will be isolated within self-contained energy loops. By utilizing nuclear micro-power plants and protected generator arrays, bases will retain the capacity to launch retaliatory strikes, operate satellite links, and project global airpower even if the civilian regional networks around them collapse into total darkness.Strategic Reserves and the Civil Reserve Manufacturing NetworkBeyond keeping base lights on, the mandate enforces strict resource stockpiling across domestic installations.Bases must house extensive strategic reserves covering critical munitions, vehicle and jet fuel, medical equipment, rare earth minerals, and vital microelectronics.Installations are also being required to eliminate single points of failure by contracting at least two independent production pathways for every critical military component. In tandem, the Pentagon is building out the Civil Reserve Manufacturing Network, identifying commercial domestic factories that can instantly pivot away from civilian goods and convert assembly lines into military production hubs during prolonged, multi-front conflict. This means even routine commercial factories could be tasked with producing weapons and munitions, should the situation demand it.The message behind the doctrine is clear: the American military cannot afford to assume civilian supply chains will remain intact during total war.By hardening domestic bases into self-sufficient fortresses capable of fighting in the dark for 90 days, military planners aim to guarantee that nuclear deterrents, retaliatory airstrikes, and global command centers remain lethal regardless of what unfolds across the civilian landscape.Several US allies have also begun preparations for a potential war, with many civilians instructed to assemble an emergency kit (Getty Stock Images)Western Allies Issue Warnings to Prepare for WarThe Pentagon's radical survival posture mirrors a broader, unsettling shift taking place across Western defense circles, where civilian populations are increasingly being told to ready themselves for large-scale conflict. In the United Kingdom, defense chiefs have issued stark warnings that modern warfare demands a "citizen army" and total societal resilience, cautioning that relying on standing military forces alone is no longer enough to counter hybrid aggression.Across Europe, that transition from peacetime complacency to wartime readiness is already in full swing.Nordic nations including Sweden, Norway, and Finland have systematically distributed war-preparedness manuals and digital guides urging millions of households to stockpile long-life rations, water, battery radios, and essential medicines to survive independently for days if national infrastructure is knocked out.By mandating that its own domestic bases survive disconnected from the outside world for three full months, the Pentagon is aligning with a sobering international consensus: the modern homeland is now an active frontline.Featured Image Credit: Aaron Schwartz/Bloomberg via Getty ImagesTopics: Politics, US News

Hannah Burcaw hits back after cruel pregnancy comment gains 40,000 likes

Published 22:49 27 Oct 2026 GMTHannah Burcaw has delivered a powerful response to a troll who questioned how much her husband Shane would contribute to raising their babyYouTuber Hannah Burcaw has hit out at a nasty comment left by a troll following her recent pregnancy announcement with husband Shane.Shane and Hannah, better known as Squirmy and Grubs to their social media fanbase, shared the happy news that they were expecting their first child last month. In a post on Instagram, the couple said they were ‘beyond ecstatic’ to share the news and confirmed their new arrival would be here in January.Since then, the pair have shared updates into their pregnancy journey, including a candid post from Shane - who has spinal muscular atrophy and uses a wheelchair - sharing some of his concerns about being a dad.AdvertWhile fans of the couple were delighted with the news and have flooded the parents-to-be with congratulations, it didn’t take long for trolls to send over their own comments. The couple are expecting their first child (Instagram/@hannahayl)In a new post, Hannah launched a takedown of a comment from someone that read: “Being a single married mom is hard. Good luck.” and had been 'liked' more than 40,000 times.Posting the comment alongside a photo of herself and Shane holding up the sonogram photos of their little one, she wrote: “I can’t say I’m surprised by this comment, since 8 years of sharing our lives on the internet has shown me that ableism is alive and well. I am surprised by the number of people who have liked it, though.”Over a series of slides and in a lengthy caption, Hannah explained ‘how much work Shane does to support me and our life together’, including things like planning trips, ordering dinner, sending emails, paying bills and scheduling appointments. She continued: “I’ve been thinking a lot about the idea of invisible labour, and how it plays into perceptions of our relationship. The term was coined by sociologist Arlene Daniels in the 1980s, and is defined as ‘unseen, uncompensated, and often unacknowledged work that is vital for keeping households, relationships, workplaces, and communities running smoothly’.“Traditionally in our society, women are the ones dealing with the huge cognitive, mental, and emotional loads of running a household, and their work often goes unacknowledged.Hannah has hit back at a cruel comment on social media (Facebook/Squirmy and Grubs)"Ironically, that labor seems to be what [original commenter] was referencing with her offensive comment. Even more ironically, Shane is the one who does the majority of that labour in our relationship, and his work continues to be overlooked and discredited.”She said the couples’ skills complemented each other well and worked together to keep the household running.“I’m sure as we enter our parenting journey, these kinds of assumptions will only continue, but hopefully we can show some people that there are many ways to be a supportive husband and life partner.”Hannah also gave an insight into some of the adaptive parenting items the couple had been trialing (using a cute doll) to see how they can help out, including a stroller that can be attached to Shane’s wheelchair that Hannah joked would mean she’d need to ‘fight to ever push my child’s stroller’.Hannah concluded her slides by saying the comment was not only offensive to Shane but also to women who ‘truly don’t have supportive partners’.“Unfortunately for the commenter, I am not one of them,” she added.Featured Image Credit: Instagram/@hannahaylTopics: Celebrity, Social Media, Parenting

Insets (from top to bottom): Mhilo Young and Tyale Coates (Metropolitan Police Department).Police have made two arrests in the shooting deaths of two boys in Washington, D.C., finding that the victims were targeted not for who they were but for where they lived.Antonio Terry, 18, and Markell Woodings, 20, have each been charged with two counts of first-degree murder while armed in the deaths of 12-year-old Mhilo Young and 14-year-old Tyale Coates, the Metropolitan Police Department announced. The case is still being investigated. On April 14, at about 3:25 p.m., Tyale and Mhilo were visiting a food truck on the 700 block of Kenilworth Avenue in Washington, D.C., as Law&Crime previously reported. The area is in the northeast part of the city, where both boys lived.Tyale wasn't allowed outside alone in his neighborhood, and he had a 7:30 p.m. curfew, his family told local ABC affiliate WJLA. His mother apparently walked him everywhere, but in the preceding days, his parents had let him ride the bus home from school for the first time.On this specific day, Tyale had reportedly asked his mother if he could get some food from the new food truck down the street. She obliged."He had permission to be where he was at, and he just got there, 'cause I was just on the phone with his mom when he asked," his aunt, Morgan Wingate, told the TV station.Just after Tyale received french fries and juice, three men in masks got out of a car and started shooting in the parking lot before getting back inside the vehicle and driving away, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia.Mhilo was struck 18 times, and Tyale was hit 12 times, local NBC affiliate WRC reported. Seventy shell casings were found at the scene, and police said it appears that the shooting was more about the neighborhood than the victims themselves. The suspects were reportedly motivated by anger over the killing of their friend, Dereon Womack, days before. The defendants allegedly set out to shoot someone from their rival neighborhood, and when they learned two boys were outside, they drove to the area and opened fire, police said.Officers arrived to find both boys with gunshot wounds. Tyale was pronounced dead at the scene, and Mhilo was brought to an area hospital, where he died.Wingate said Tyale's mother called her. "She was screaming. She was screaming," the aunt recounted. "I'm like, 'what?' She was like, 'They shot my son.'"Police are still searching for a third suspect in the shooting, WRC noted. Authorities said evidence on the shell casings led to Terry's and Woodings' arrests, and cops alleged that the suspects posted pictures of guns on social media and bragged about the deaths to their friend.Terry is due in court for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 9. Woodings' court information is not yet clear.
