It doesn't mean they are going to cheat, but a private detective has spotted some patterns

Experienced private detective Paul Evans has seen a lot in his time, including the jobs people do which make him think they're more likely to cheat.

Plenty of private detective work is done on behalf of suspicious spouses to work out whether that other person in their life really is cheating on them or not.

Those who do it for a career have developed their own ideas about the signs you usually see and what the red flags of cheating behaviour are, and for Evans there are five fairly common jobs he's seen time and time again.

Explaining his work to Metro, the private investigator from I-Spy Detectives explained how these careers brought the mixture of skills and opportunities needed for cheating and getting away with it.

Unfortunately, there's quite common jobs so you'll find they give a lot of people a lot of opportunities.

Yes, those helpful souls who are always there to fix your computer when something goes wrong and turning it off and on again isn't working are apparently prone to cheating, according to the private detective.

Of course, we all love our IT teams, they're the real heroes of any workplace and I'm not just saying that to butter them up in case I need their help.

However, Evans said he deals with 'more cases in the IT sector' then expected and they have another skill which aids them in their cheating.

Apparently, IT professionals are good at covering their digital tracks when it comes to cheating so it can be hard to trace them, and they've got a ready made excuse if they're always on their phone to someone else that it's a work thing.

This is a job where you get to travel around, meet lots of new people and possibly stay in hotels a long way from home, which opens up a lot of opportunities for cheating.

The private detective said these people were 'persuasive by nature' which helped them stay on top of the social side of cheating, and explained that he'd followed sales reps around and found they were cheating with 'colleagues and sometimes randomers' at the bar of whichever hotel they were staying at.

Once again there's lots of travel and staying elsewhere, and Evans says that flying great distances can 'increase temptation' and 'boundaries can quickly fade' when you're half the world away.

He said: "We investigated a married flight attendant who frequently worked long-haul.

"She started to become distant, and when we looked into it, she had been meeting a pilot from another airline during her stopovers. They had been booking into the same hotels for months."

Ouch.

"Another day of horrible impersonal interactions with people, anyone fancy an orgy?" "Yes." "Yup." "Yeah." "Count me in." (Getty Stock Image)

You probably wouldn't expect it, but the private investigator says people who work closely together and 'are under pressure every day' can form some quite tight bonds.

These friendships which are formed so people can get through the day's allotment of work stress then 'cross the line' as people are just so close to each other for so long.

This one you could probably guess.

They do some remarkable life saving work but ask the question of which profession is most likely to cheat and you'll get loads of people who worked in hospitals saying they know plenty of stories.

High stress and close proximity play a role, and Evans said he knew of one case where a nurse was having an affair with a doctor on night shifts and hooking up in a spare room in the hospital.

That sort of thing does happen, one married surgeon even walked out in the middle of an operation to have sex with a nurse who was very definitely not his wife, with the pair caught in a 'compromising position' in an operating theatre that wasn't being used at the time.
