Shane and Hannah Burcaw Reveal How They’ll Protect Their Baby Online

Updated 16:36 4 Oct 2026 GMT+1Published 16:34 4 Oct 2026 GMT+1The couple revealed the heartbreaking reason they kept their pregnancy news private for so longShane and Hannah Burcaw have already made plans on how they're going to protect their unborn child from 'online trolls' just weeks after making their pregnancy announcement. On September 8, the couple, known as Squirmy and Grubs, who share their life on social media, revealed they were expecting their first child. In an Instagram post, they penned: "We are beyond ecstatic to announce that we’re expecting our first child this coming January!"Hannah is 20 weeks pregnant and although we've been thoroughly enjoying this special time in privacy so far, we've also missed sharing all the joy with you, and there's so much to share."AdvertShane lives with a severe muscle-wasting disease and relies on a wheelchair, while Hannah is completely able bodied.Since the announcement, Shane has spoken about his fears of becoming a dad, saying that one of his biggest worries was 'the extent to which I’ll be able to physically interact with them.'Another worry the couple have spoken about is having to protect their baby from online trolls.Shane and Hannah are expecting their first baby (YouTube/Squirmy and Grubs)Hannah then told PEOPLE that the couple's 'priority is just to protect the privacy of our baby,' due to the fact 'social media is not always great.'“And we definitely don’t want to subject a child to the kinds of comments that we get."“We felt like, we are bringing another human into the world; they can’t speak for their privacy right now, and so that as parents is our responsibility,” Shane added. The father-to-be said they're 'sharing this with the world carefully' and that the pair are being 'being deliberate and intentional to make sure that what they share aligns with their values.'“We know what we’ve signed up for, and we’re excited to share our parenting journey, and how we make it work," Hannah told the outlet. The couple tied the knot six years ago (@hannahayl/Instagram)In a YouTube video prior to the interview, the couple revealed that they kept the pregnancy private for so long due to the reactions online.“There are going to be a number of people, a big number of people, who are not happy about this pregnancy announcement, and that’s another reason we haven’t wanted to share with the world,” Shane said. The 34-year-old said he knew there would be 'horrible people in the comments and in the message board telling him that he should not be a father due to his disability.'Another worry Shane opened up about was whether he'd be able to reach his arms out 'far enough to feel the kicking,' he shared in a Facebook post."I know and believe that parenting and love do not require physical ability, but I still grapple with those deep down anxieties at times, especially as our baby began kicking in Hannah’s womb a few weeks ago," he explained.Featured Image Credit: Instagram/Shane Burcaw, Hannah BurcawTopics: Parenting, Sex and Relationships

Why Christa Pike’s Failed Lethal Injection Is Drawing Fresh Scrutiny

Why Christa Pike’s Failed Lethal Injection Is Drawing Fresh Scrutiny

Updated 13:31 4 Oct 2026 GMT+1Published 18:28 4 May 2022 GMT+1Tennessee death row inmate Christa Pike survived two rounds of lethal injection drugs of pentobarbital on Wednesday (30 September)A campaign group pushing to revoke the death penalty in the US shared 'a painstaking reconstruction' of a 'real-time execution'.Christa Pike's botched execution on Wednesday (30 September) after two rounds of lethal injection drugs has raised questions over executions in Tennessee. The death row inmate, 50, was given two doses of pentobarbital and was hospitalised for life-saving medical care.Death Penalty Fail, meanwhile, is a campaign group which seeks to 'promote the facts, highlight the inefficiencies, and push for the repeal of the death penalty in the United States'.AdvertThe campaign group explains on its website how executions 'have been on the decline' in the US over 'the last few years,' and 'the death penalty system has been fraught with pragmatic, fiscal, and constitutional problems'.Warning: Contains scenes some viewers may find disturbing. It states: "More and more states are re-evaluating their use of the death penalty or abandoning it altogether: 19 states have repealed it (plus the District of Columbia!), four have a moratorium in place, and eight more haven’t carried out an execution in more than 10 years."This fall voters in California and Nebraska will go to the polls with the chance to end the death penalty in their states."Even with all of this decline, the US is still one of the highest executing nations in the world."Death Penalty Fail/ YouTubeAppealing to people whether or not they believe in the death penalty or not, the group says 'there can be no doubt that it is riddled with problems'.It explains the group is committed to 'educating people around the social, emotional and financial burdens of the death penalty' whether it be using stories, visuals or film.It concludes: "We look to intensify the social conversation and increase the number of active death penalty repeal supporters."Now is the time to think again about the death penalty."In 2016, the group released footage of 'what your government doesn't want you to see' - a recreation of an execution by lethal injection.Death Penalty Fail/ YouTubeIt explains how 'more than 1,250 people have been executed in the USA since 1977,' with executions 'often monitored on video by the authorities'.It states that the supply of lethal chemicals has been 'blocked' because of an international human rights embargo."As a result, some states have chosen to use non-FDA approved drugs," it claims. In 2019, the Justice Department ruled that the FDA had no legal authority to regulate drugs used to carry out lethal injections. The campaign group adds that at least 13 states 'now keep the source of their lethal chemicals a secret'.Death Penalty Fail/ YouTubeThe reconstruction video of a real-time execution claims the executioner is 'a volunteer prison officer who is not medically trained,' and paid '$300 [£240] cash' to do the job.According to the Palm Beach Post, executioners in Florida can be paid as little as $150 (£120) per execution.A microphone is attached to the inmate 'as a backup to the one above' him to pick up their 'last words to [their] family'.Death Penalty Fail/ YouTube"A 'licensed medic' must fit the syringes, insert the IV's and pronounce the prisoner's death," the caption reads. However, the campaigners allege the medical staff involved are 'often inexperienced in this procedure'.While medical staff are present, the video notes the person ultimately responsible for the injection - in where it is administered and what chemicals it contains - is the Director of Corrections. However, the caption states: "He is not medically trained."Death Penalty Fail/ YouTubeThe video shows two IV lines being inserted into the prisoner's veins to which 'an accurate IV insertion is crucial for an anaesthetic to work'.However, there appears to be an issue, with the medical assistant stating he has 'gone through the vein'.The inmate appears to be in considerable distress, making sounds of discomfort and his face contorted.A vein in the groin is tried instead and once the IV lines are successfully inserted the execution begins.Death Penalty Fail/ YouTube"Executions are routinely attended by members of the press and the family of the prisoner," the video states. In order to conceal their identity, the 'licensed medic' is noted as covering their face. After the inmate gives a statement, the lethal injection is then administered. However, the caption explains it 'can take up to two hours before death is pronounced'.Death Penalty Fail/ YouTubeThe prisoner is anaesthetised with the sedative, Midazolam, which one of the medical team notes should take 'about five minutes' to kick in.The inmate's heart rate is monitored 'going down' before he is checked and evaluated as 'unresponsive'."The second chemical, Vecuronium Bromide paralyses the prisoner. The prisoner can still feel pain but is unable to move," the video states.Death Penalty Fail/ YouTubeHowever, the team spot the prisoner's eyes open, causing extreme panic among the rest of the team. The caption reads: "The final chemical, potassium chloride kills the prisoner by stopping the heart."If the prisoner is still conscious, this last chemical will cause an intense burning pain."Medical staff can be heard swearing, with one exclaiming: "He should be unconscious."Death Penalty Fail/ YouTubeThe campaign video claims 'at least 75' having been 'botched' since 1977.Death Penalty Fail concludes: "The lethal injection process is so problematic, only six states continue to execute people."The 8th amendment of the US constitution bans 'cruel and unusual punishment'."Is the lethal injection cruel and unusual?"You can watch the full video here.Additional words by Anish Vij.Featured Image Credit: (Death Penalty Fail/ YouTube)Topics: US News

Diet Drinks Draw Attention After Surprising Two-Year Weight-Loss Trial

Diet Drinks Draw Attention After Surprising Two-Year Weight-Loss Trial

Published 12:27 4 Oct 2026 GMT+1You may not have to ditch the diet fizzy drinks after allA new study has found that diet fizzy drinks are just as effective as water when it comes to weight loss. While GLP-1 drugs have become increasingly popular in recent years for those hoping to shed the pounds, there are also more conventional ways to lose weight.Having a balanced diet is typically a good start, with health experts often speaking about how drinking water is always a good start. But what if you could still get your fizzy drink fix without ditching the diet?AdvertWell, according to a new study from the experts over at the University of Liverpool in the UK, diet drinks could just be as effective as drinking water when it comes to shedding the pounds. The findings, published in the British Journal of Nutrition, involved 493 adults who were either overweight or obese. Those involved in the study were either obese or overweight (Getty Stock Photo)Over a 104-week clinical trial, experts concluded that weight loss between those drinking non-sugary drinks and water was nearly identical.Participants were picked at random to consume either water or commercially available diet beverages with sweeteners on a daily basis. The average equivalent weight loss from the fizzy drinks was −4.8 kg, compared to −3.7 kg for water, which experts described as a 'nonsignificant difference'.As a result, sustained weight reduction over two years in both groups were recorded.Scientists concluded that reductions were recorded for participants who drank both diet drinks and water when it comes to waist and hip circumference.Furthermore, those involved in the study showed improvements body composition and several metabolic biomarkers. The experts looked into how diet soft drinks impact weight loss (Getty Stock Photo)Professor Joanne Harrold, from the University of Liverpool, said: “The University of Liverpool is one of the UK’s leading research-intensive higher education institutions, with a key focus on public health. These latest findings show that concerns about sweeteners disrupting appetite or causing weight gain are not supported when tested in a rigorous, long-term randomised trial. We hope this evidence informs future WHO guidance and public health policy."While Professor Jason Halford, from the University of Leeds and University of Liverpool, added: “This study provides the long‑term clinical evidence that has been missing from international discussions. For people trying to manage their weight, non‑nutritive sweetened beverages offer an effective alternative to sugar‑sweetened drinks—and perform equivalently to water over two years.”What was also interesting was the fact experts concluded there was no evidence that fizzy drinks interfere with appetite regulation or cause long-term metabolic harm.Featured Image Credit: TF-Images/TF-Images via Getty ImagesTopics: Weight loss, Health, Food and Drink

Why ‘Super El Niño’ could bring a polar vortex toward the UK

Why ‘Super El Niño’ could bring a polar vortex toward the UK

Published 15:49 4 Oct 2026 GMT+1The UK has been warned to prepare for extreme weather as the El Niño cycle intensifiesThe current El Niño cycle could lead to a 'polar vortex' over the winter due to an unusual phenomenon.El Niño is one half the ENSO cycle, which stands for 'El Niño Southern Oscillation', and happens when the surface of the Pacific Ocean rises above a certain temperature. This has a huge knock on effect on weather patterns around the world, with the precise impact of El Niño on the weather depending on the location.Strong El Niño can cause widespread destruction, and scientists are warning that the current El Niño cycle is the strongest on record.AdvertIt's so strong in fact that it has been informally referred to as a 'Super El Niño', though this is not a formal name, and even a 'Godzilla' El Niño by some.A separate weather effect could see El Niño being involved in another weather effect, this one in the Arctic. The phenomenon is the Arctic polar vortex, which are effectively the winds which circle the North Pole at the top of the globe, creating a vortex effect, Metro reports.Disruption to the polar vortex from the powerful El Niño could make it so that more cold air moves southwards towards Europe and North America.El Niño can have a wide ranging impact depending on locationThat potentially creates an increased chance of heavy snow and blizzard conditions in those regions as the impact of El Niño begins to take effect, potentially creating a colder winter.A weakening of a polar vortex which can be associated with El Niño sometimes leads to colder north easterly and northern winds to overpower the warmer North Atlantic drift that has a big impact on the weather in the UK.In addition to the risk of blizzards, the effect 'heightens the potential' of rainy weather and stormy conditions, which in turn could also lead to a higher risk of flooding.Met Office climate spokesperson Grahame Madge said: "The El Niño event is still developing in the tropical Pacific and already it has surpassed the magnitude of previous events including the one in 2015/16."Globally, an El Niño event has several impacts, including altering rainfall patterns and increasing global temperature overall."El Niño hinges on the Pacific Ocean (Getty Stock)It comes as the UK government has issued statements warning brits to stock up on essential items in the home, such as tinned food and supplied of light and heat in the event of power cuts. The UK has already seen record highs in temperature over the summer, and the impact of El Niño has led scientists to warn that 2027 is likely to be even hotter than 2026.One report even suggested that there could be in excess of 450,000 deaths related to heat between June 2026 and February 2027 as a result of the impact of El Niño.Professor Michael Greenstone is from the University of Chicago, and co-authored that report."The estimate of 451,000 people is such a large number that it can be numbing, but it is made up of parents and children, grandparents and neighbours, people going to work, caring for families, and living their lives," said Prof Greenstone.Featured Image Credit: Getty StockTopics: World News, El Niño, Weather

Christa Pike’s Last Meal Request Draws Attention After Failed Execution

Christa Pike’s Last Meal Request Draws Attention After Failed Execution

Published 10:26 4 Oct 2026 GMT+1Her lawyers say at least seven needles were used in one arm as they push to commute her executionJust $20 was set aside for Christa Pike's last meal, and she turned it down. Instead, the death row inmate asked for the money to be spent on pizza for homeless people in downtown Nashville, according to the New York Times. That request came before two lethal injections of pentobarbital failed to kill the 49-year-old on Wednesday.Pike was left unconscious and on a ventilator, and she remains in critical condition at a hospital in the Nashville area.AdvertThe fallout has now reached the top of the state's prison system. Frank Strada, commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Correction, is set to resign over the failed execution attempt. He said stepping aside was ‘in the best interests’ of Tennessee, and described the investigation into the procedure as ‘entirely appropriate and necessary’.Christa Pike, 49, was left unconscious and on a ventilator after two lethal injections of pentobarbital failed to kill her on Wednesday. (Tennessee Department of Correction)What happened during Christa Pike's failed execution?Pike's lawyers said she was given two sets of syringes containing the lethal drug while she cried and whimpered throughout the procedure. At one point, she said: "My arm feels like it's about to burst open." She later asked: "Does this happen like that?"She was reportedly stuck with at least seven needles as medical staff struggled to administer the drug. Attorney Randy Spivey said on Thursday: "I counted at least seven needles used in her left arm alone."He added that one needle ‘appeared to be bent when it was pulled from her left arm after an unsuccessful attempt’.Her lawyers also said her arms were left burned, blistered and swollen by the repeated attempts to insert needles. They believe problems with the IV lines meant the pentobarbital entered her body rather than flowing into her bloodstream. They also claim nobody realized the lines had been incorrectly placed, or that her veins had blown, while the lethal drug was being administered.Hospital workers then battled to save her life and clear the drug from her system, with Pike intubated and hooked up to a ventilator. Her lawyers are now fighting to have her death sentence commuted.Colleen Slemmer was 19 when she was killed in Knoxville in 1995, and Pike and Tadaryl Shipp were convicted of her murder. (WTLV)Who is Christa Pike and why was she on death row?Pike has spent three decades on death row for the 1995 murder of her 18-year-old college classmate, Colleen Slemmer. She was sentenced to death in 1996, the year after the killing, having been found guilty of murdering Slemmer, whom she believed was trying to steal her boyfriend.Had the execution gone to plan, Pike would have become the first woman put to death in Tennessee in more than 200 years. For now, Pike remains critically ill while her legal team pursues a commutation, and the department that carried out the procedure is preparing to lose its commissioner.Featured Image Credit: Christa Pike's legal team

Why Andy Carroll Has Now Named Kevin Adams in Assault Case

Updated 11:32 4 Oct 2026 GMT+1Published 10:30 4 Oct 2026 GMT+1Court documents revealed the former Fame Academy dance coach had sexually assaulted the footballer in 2021Andy Carroll has named former Fame Academy dance teacher Kevin Adams as the man who abused him in 2021.The former Newcastle United star revealed that a male celebrity had sexually assaulted him five years ago in his new memoir Owning It: In My Own Words, but declined to name the man in question. Now, an investigation by The Sun has revealed that Adams, best known for his work as a dancing coach on the short-lived BBC series, was the man in question – which Carroll has since verified.Speaking to the outlet after learning that Adams' name was publicly available in court records, Carroll gave the following statement: "Now that Kevin Adams has been named in court documents as my abuser, I can confirm it.Advert“Hopefully now I can finally start to put this chapter behind me."Carroll went on to ask the public not to share images of Adam alongside him, adding that he doesn't want to be reminded of him every time the story comes up."I just ask that people don’t constantly share pictures of my abuser alongside me," he said.Footballing ace Carroll played for teams such as Liverpool and Newcastle United during the height of his career (Jamie McDonald/Getty Images)"I don’t want to keep seeing his face or being reminded of him every time this story is spoken about. I’m ready to move forward. This had a devastating impact on my life and loved ones."Adams, now 59, was found guilty of sexually assaulting Carroll in September 2023 at Chelmsford Crown Court and jailed for 20 months. He was also instructed to put his name on the sex offender register for 10 years and stay away from the village where Carroll lived.Carroll opened up about the impact the assault had on him and his family in his memoir, writing that it was 'humiliating and horrendous' to have to give evidence against him in court. The 37-year-old explained that he'd gone to bed after having a 'few drinks' before waking up to Adams, described in the book as a 'celebrity pal', sexually assaulting him.Reflecting on the trauma the assault left him with, Carroll wrote: "What happened to me affected every facet of my life.“I’d think about it every day, making it difficult to focus on anything else, including football... The trauma of what happened to me hasn’t gone away."Kevin Adams worked as a dance coach on BBC series Fame Academy (BBC)During her sentencing remarks, Judge Mary Loram accused Adams of believing his own lies when it came to the incident, telling him: "You spun a literally incredible tale in which you painted yourself as the victim."In your narrative, you were the put-upon reluctant friend doing no more than helping out."The end of your unbelievable tale was that you were the victim of the most serious sexual assaults yourself."However incredible your account, it seems to me that you’ve actually started to believe your own lies."Adams has since set all of his social media accounts to private since the news broke.LADbible has approached representatives of both Andy Carroll and Kevin Adams for comment. If you have been affected by any of the issues in this article and wish to speak to someone in confidence, contact The Survivors Trust for free on 08088 010 818, available 10am-12.30pm, 1.30pm-3pm and 6pm-8pm Monday to Thursday, 10am-12.30pm and 1.30pm-3pm on Fridays, 10am-12.30pm on Saturdays and 6pm-8pm on Sundays.Additionally, Male Survivors Partnership is available to support adult male survivors of sexual abuse. The Foods 80% of One Oncologist’s Colon Cancer Patients Ate

The Foods 80% of One Oncologist’s Colon Cancer Patients Ate

Updated 16:47 3 Oct 2026 GMT+1Published 11:18 19 May 2026 GMT+1Eating this food causes a chemical process which damages the cells lining the bowel, leading to an increased risk of colon cancerColon cancer cases are increasing all over the world, but where it was once thought of as an older person’s disease, young people are seeing it more and more. While research is trying to pinpoint exactly why this is, there have been links found by scientists who are sure it’s mostly down to what we consume. Bowel cancer is now the fourth most common form of cancer in the UK, but with symptoms hard to put down to being exclusively a cancer thing, it can easily end up dismissed by doctors due to similarities with IBS or piles. What is known as of now is that things such as alcohol and red meat because of the increased risk of cancer, but an oncologist with 17 years of experience says there’s even more of a risk if you eat this category of foods. AdvertColon cancer is on the rise (Getty Stock Images)According to him, 80 percent of the people he operated on consumed either sausages, hot dogs or smoked and processed meats.Meanwhile, Dr Tim Titutan, a US-based doctor with a background in cancer research, told GB News: "Processing meat, such as through curing, smoking, salting, or chemical preservation, results in the formation of carcinogenic chemicals called Noc and Pah."A study was done showing that eating 50 grams of processed meat a day increased, the risk of colorectal cancer by 18 percent"I am not vegetarian, but I do make conscious decisions to lower the amount of processed meat I eat."The World Health Organisation considers processed meat a Group 1 carcinogen, a group which also includes tobacco, alcohol, asbestos and radioactive plutonium. Why does eating sausages and processed meat increase the risk of bowel cancer?Cancer Research UK explains that nitrates and nitrites are chemical preservatives added to processed meat like sausages to keep it fresher for longer. They're broken down in the body into N-nitroso chemicals (NOCs), which damage the cells lining the bowel, potentially causing bowel cancerThe health charity advises you to eat as little processed meat as possible. Other processed meats include bacon, sandwich ham, corned beef, hot dogs, salami and pepperoniA 2020 study found that people eating 75g of processed or red meat per day, which is about one large sausage, had a 32 percent increased risk of developing bowel cancer.(LADbible)The likes of James Van de Beek, Married at First Sight host Mel Schilling and Chadwick Boseman have all passed away from colon cancer in recent years, which shows how dangerous it can be even when affecting those under the age of 50.NHS doctor Chris van Tulleken said: "There is a decade of evidence now that is extremely clear that it is ultra-processed food that is responsible, not just for pandemic weight gain and obesity, but also for a long list of other health problems, including early death."Therefore, it seems clear that the vast majority of health professionals are in agreement that poor diet and ultra-processed foods can be responsible for illnesses such as colon cancer, with the prevalence of those foods in young people's diets perhaps one explanation as to why the cancer is becoming so common in patients under the age of 40.What are the symptoms of colon cancer?Signs of colon cancer are easy to miss (Getty Stock Images)According to the NHS, symptoms may include:· Changes in your pooing habits· Bleeding from your bottom· Feeling like you need to poo even if you've just been to the toilet· Tummy pain· A lump in your tummy· Bloating· Losing weight without trying· Feeling very tired for no reasonA GP appointment is recommended is you experience the above symptoms. If you’ve been affected by any of these issues and want to speak to someone in confidence, contact Macmillan’s Cancer Support Line on 0808 808 00 00, 8am–8pm seven days a week.Featured Image Credit: Adobe StockTopics: Bowel cancer, Cancer, Health, NHS

Joe Rogan Stunned by David Grusch’s Alien Warfare Claim

Joe Rogan Stunned by David Grusch’s Alien Warfare Claim

Published 16:33 3 Oct 2026 GMT+1The whistleblower claimed 'it smells like a conflict'A UFO whistleblower has claimed in a recent episode of Joe Rogan's podcast that two species of aliens are at war above the US.You'd think that with all the talk surrounding aliens and UFOs, some unknown creature would have come and visited us on Earth by now.But according to David Grusch, a former intelligence officer, aliens are instead fighting above America.Speaking during a recent appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, Grusch was asked about the possibility of war taking place between non-human intelligence (NHI) in Earth's skies.AdvertHe replied: "We've documented that... what we perceive as warfare. It looks like conflict. It smells like conflict.""So the grays and reptilians were duking it out," Rogan asked, to which Grush replied: "I guess."A shocked Rogan then replied: "Whoa. It sounds f****** crazy, David."David Grusch has long believed alien life is out there (Getty Stock Photo)While Grusch repeatedly stated that he's never seen UFO crashes or alien bodies, he claims to have proof from files on programs that are truly top-secret.On the other hand, the US government and military has long maintained that there is no physical evidence alien life and UFOs are actually a thing. In 2023, Grusch claimed that aliens were real and that the military had some, as he spoke to Congress under oath.He claimed the US government was 'operating with secrecy above congressional oversight with regards to UAPs'. UAP stands for 'unidentified aerial phenomenon', which includes UFOs.Grusch has previously suggested that the US government has an intact craft of 'non-human origin' which they have not made public. He also claimed that the military has a 'small white' UFO in their possession, which officials have continued to deny.Prior to his public allegations about what the White House are said to know about UFOs and alien life, Grusch worked on the Pentagon's Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force, before moving into the National Reconnaissance Office's representative to the task force.Grusch's latest comments come after Dr. Phil McGraw accused the Pentagon of lying ‘straight to our face’ regarding UFOs.David Grusch (Drew Angerer/Getty Images)“[The government] has turned a blind eye to sightings by most Americans,” McGraw alleged“If 99 percent prove to be nothing to see here… fine. What about the one percent?” he said, before turning on the Pentagon for how it went about declassifying information that allegedly points to alien life being real.“Most of you are as angry as I am that the government has lied straight to our face,” McGraw continued, adding: “There is not one government agency that lets everyday Americans report UAPs.”UNILAD has previously reached out to the Department of War for comment.Featured Image Credit: YouTube/PowerfulJRETopics: UFO, Aliens, Joe Rogan, Conspiracy Theories

How Air Force One Child Star Liesel Matthews Became a Billionaire

How Air Force One Child Star Liesel Matthews Became a Billionaire

Published 16:53 3 Oct 2026 GMT+1Liesel Matthews, who starred opposite Harrison Ford in the film, is now the 2017th richest person in the world according to Forbes Air Force One has an absolutely stacked cast for a film in which Harrison Ford plays a president trapped in a Die Hard style situation on a plane, but it’s fair to say that he isn’t even close to the wealthiest member of that cast.Ford is joined by Gary Oldman, Glenn Close, and William H Macy, but none of them come close to the net worth of child star Liesel Matthews, who is now known as Liesel Pritzker Simmons.Simmons is, according to Forbes at the time of writing, worth a whopping $2.1 billion which puts her in the very upper echelons of former actors.Unlike some of the highest paid actors like Robert Downey Jr and Tom Cruise however, her money comes nearly entirely from moves she made after leaving Hollywood in 2000.AdvertInitially however, the biggest bump in her net worth came when she sadly ended up having to sue her own family over them mismanaging her earnings.Simmons sued her family for $6 billion, earning $500 million, after they mismanaged her wealth before she turned 18She starred in Air Force One as the daughter of Harrison Ford's character, and is now worth substantially more than him (Columbia Pictures)Simmons was a very successful child star considering she only appeared in three films, starring as Ford’s daughter Alice Marshall in Air Force One, but also appearing in A Little Princess and Blast. That said, her earnings for appearing in those three films did not quite equal the $500 million fortune she ended up winning when she sued her father and wider family.Simmons is the daughter of Robert Pritzker, a member of the uber-wealthy Pritzker family whose fortune comes from founding the Hyatt Hotels Corporation. In 1989 Robert and Simmon’s mother Irene became divorced, leading to her and her brother Matthew becoming the subject of arguments over custody between her parents.Ultimately Irene won custody of them both, but her father reportedly invested her and Matthew’s trust funds into the family’s corporation. When the family chose to split up this money she and Matthew were left out, leading them to sue her father, uncle, and cousins, for $6 billion, with her and her brother earning half a billion each from the settlement.Simmons moved to India after winning the payout to go where ‘no one knew her’, but later returned to the US and founded a billion-dollar businessSimmons is now a prominent name in the venture capital world (Vaughn Ridley/Sportsfile via Getty Images)Speaking to Forbes about her experience of winning the lawsuit, which took place when she was a student at Columbia university, she said she had initially planned to be an actor in New York. She ended up preferring her classes on African studies however and, when the high profile lawsuit went through, needed to get away from the notoriety. She explained that she moved to Dharamshala in India, saying: “When you go someplace where you're completely foreign to anybody, you're just there.“You're seen for who you are and not for all of the Googling behind you, so to speak.”She joked that she knew she was a ‘cliché’ because she volunteered and taught yoga to rehabilitate drug addicts.Matthews in 1995 and 2024 (Steve Liss/Getty Images / YouTube)Her experience of witnessing poverty firsthand in both India and later Tanzania led her to become involved in ‘impact investing’, a form of investment where financiers aim to make positive social change whilst still profiting themselves. She set up the venture capital fund ‘Blue Haven Initiative’ with her husband, with whom she shares two daughters, which invests in iniatives such as one that takes dried out human fecal matter and turns it into burnable fuel, as well as general investment in climate and clean energy infrastructure. Now worth $2.1 billion and the 2017th richest person in the world, she told Forbes: “I didn't earn this money and I'll be damned if I'm going to screw it up!”Featured Image Credit: Ron Galella, Ltd./Ron Galella Collection via Getty ImagesTopics: Celebrity, Celebrity Net Worth, Money, Nostalgia, TV and Film

Miranda Lambert Finally Reveals What Happened With Chad Kroeger at a Bar

Published 14:34 3 Oct 2026 GMT+1More than 15 years later, the country star has confirmed the rumors were trueAfter years of rumors, Miranda Lambert has confessed she did indeed once have a bar fight with Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger. The country star has now confirmed the altercation more than 15 years later, admitting she 'threw moonshine in his face'.The incident is believed to date back to 2010 when Lambert, who was dating Blake Shelton at the time, was at a bar in Nashville celebrating her 27th birthday. An eyewitness told journalists that Kroeger had been repeatedly encouraging Lambert to do shots with him but she continuously refused.AdvertChad Kroeger has never publicly acknowledged the altercation (Vito Amati/The David Foster Foundation via Getty Images)He allegedly told her she 'didn't have to be a b**** about it,' prompting the birthday girl to throw her drink at him."I did do that," Lambert has now told the New York Times Podcast, adding that Kroeger had 'a lot of hair' at the time, which subsequently ended up 'wrecked' by her drink. When asked if it was a 'playful, mischievous' exchange, she simply replied: "No."At the time, there were a lot of rumors the country singer had punched him in the face, though it now seems this was a classic case of a story getting more exaggerated each time it's told.Reflecting on the incident, the 42-year-old said emotions had been running high at the time, but she hasn't lost any sleep over it since. She said: "It was a lot and it was just a late night, and no one was in their best state. I don't know if we're fine now, but I don't care."Kroeger has never actually publicly addressed the incident so there's no way of knowing how he feels about it all. However, the frontman's ex-wife Avril Lavigne, who he is still close with, has a great relationship with Lambert.Miranda Lambert 'doesn't care' if she and the Nickelback front man are on okay terms (Kevin Mazur/Getty Images for ACM)"We're good. I had Avril come and do my CMA Fest surprise guest," Lambert explained.Over the years, Skelton, who was married to Lambert from 2011 to 2015, has teased little snippets of what really happened that night. In 2014, he told Rolling Stone: "People always try to pop off or call her bluff at bars. One of them, I don't want to say the guy's name, but he's the lead singer of a very popular rock band. His initials are C.K."At the time, it was reported Shelton had stepped in and had to be restrained away from Kroeger. A rep for Shelton said: "No fists were thrown. Blake is a peacekeeper and doesn't start fights."Featured Image Credit: Tibrina Hobson/Billboard via Getty ImagesTopics: Celebrity, Music

Bruce Willis’ FTD Diagnosis Highlights Eating Changes Experts Warn About

Updated 13:38 3 Oct 2026 GMT+1Published 11:58 30 Aug 2025 GMT+1Bruce Willis was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in 2023Hyperphagia, fixations on certain types of food and eating inanimate objects could be a sign that you're at risk of developing frontotemporal dementia (FTD). An uncommon form of the disease, FTD has become more widely known in recent years due to actor Bruce Willis' diagnosis. Following the Die Hard actor's retirement from the entertainment industry in 2022, he was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD), a form of the disease which impacts a person's behaviour and language. While Willis himself now lives outside of the public eye, his wife, Emma Heming Willis, and adult daughters have provided updates on his life and condition. What is frontotemporal dementia (FTD) – and how does it change your eating habits? According to the NHS, it causes a range of symptoms, such as personality and behaviour changes, which could be acting inappropriately or impulsively, appearing selfish or unsympathetic, neglecting personal hygiene, overeating, or loss of motivation.AdvertBruce Willis was diagnosed with dementia in 2023 (Selcuk Acar/Anadolu via Getty Image)They might develop language problems such as speaking slowly, struggling to make the right sounds when saying a word, getting words in the wrong order, or using words incorrectly. They could have problems with mental abilities, or memory problems, or even physical issues. These things can make it hard to function and complete daily tasks. But experts say that the way a person eats can also be an indicator of the disease, particularly when it lines up with 'obsessive and repetitive behaviours’ that can occur in those suffering. For example, patients may eat non-food items (PICA), eat only one food, or steal food from others.Of course, PICA - a condition where people will eat non-food items, which might be caused by vitamin deficiencies - in itself, isn’t a sign of dementia. However, if it’s being seen alongside other worrying symptoms, it could be part of the condition.Experts say FTD can cause different eating habits (Getty Stock Images)“Frontotemporal dementia is associated with a wide variety of abnormal eating behaviours such as hyperphagia (insatiable hunger), fixations on one kind of food, even ingestion of inanimate objects,” a paper on the topic claimed.“These behaviours are problematic, of course, socially, but also with regard to patients’ health as they tend to gain weight,” said Dr Marilena Aiello, a neuroscientist who was involved in a systemic review of FTD.She added: “Even if individual consequences are different.”However, ‘some people lose weight because they eat a narrow range of foods in an obsessive way’.As for this reason behind this, nobody is quite sure, but it is ‘likely due to many factors’.“It may involve an alteration of the autonomic nervous system, characterised by an altered assessment of the body’s signals, such as hunger, satiety, and appetite. Damage to the hypothalamus can cause a loss of inhibitory signals, causing behaviours such as overeating,” the researcher said. But ‘there are probably sensory and cognitive factors that can complicate the picture... In patients who eat objects, for example, there is perhaps a semantic problem of recognising the object of and its function’.Emma Heming Willis speaks often about her husband's condition and her role as a carer (Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images)Bruce Willis has been suffering from the condition since 2023.His wife, Emma Heming Willis, opened up in an ABC special, sharing the celebrity's ongoing journey with dementia. The Die Hard, The Sixth Sense, and Pulp Fiction actor, retired in 2022 due to his declining health and aphasia diagnosis. She wrote online at the time: "We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him."As Bruce always says, 'Live it up' and together we plan to do just that."In February of 2023, Rumer Willis, Bruce’s daughter, shared that his aphasia had progressed to frontotemporal dementia. She said in this statement: “Unfortunately, challenges with communication are just one symptom of the disease Bruce faces.“While this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis.”Bruce Willis is supported by his wife, Emma, as well as ex-wife Demi Moore and their daughters (Stefanie Keenan/Getty Images for goop)Having given regular updates on his life, condition and decline, Emma previously spoke about his condition with ABC, saying: “Bruce is in really great health overall, you know. It's just his brain that is failing him.“The language is going, and, you know, we've learned to adapt. We have a way of communicating with him, which is just a different, a different way."Last year, she made the heartbreaking decision to move her husband into a second home so that he could have the care he needs.Calling it the 'hardest decision I've had to make', it’ll allow him to get around-the-clock care from professionals.Featured Image Credit: (Rich Fury/Getty Images)Topics: Health, Bruce Willis, Food And Drink

Trump Breaks Silence on Cornell Case With ‘Fair Shake’ Claim

Trump Breaks Silence on Cornell Case With ‘Fair Shake’ Claim

Published 17:56 3 Oct 2026 GMT+1The president claimed the men involved in the case 'won’t get a fair shake' Warning: This article contains allegations of rape which some readers may find distressing.Donald Trump has broken his silence following allegations that a female student was drugged and raped in an incident involving seven men from Cornell University's Chi Phi fraternity in 2024.The alleged victim, known as Jane Doe, filed a civil lawsuit on September 14 against seven Chi Phi fraternity members, Cornell University and others, alleging she was drugged and raped while unable to consent. The seven men involved are accused of sexual assault, though they are yet to face any criminal charges.AdvertAs the shocking case comes to light, President Trump has slammed Attorney General Letitia James, suggesting that the men involved in the case 'won’t get a fair shake' if she is involved in any criminal proceedings.Trump was asked by press outside the White House what he thought of James' appointment as special prosecutor to investigate the case, to which he said: "She’s totally corrupt, and I can’t imagine it.Letitia James, New York's attorney general (Michael Nagle/Bloomberg via Getty Images)"And I feel badly for whoever she’s looking at because they won’t get a fair shake. Letitia James is a corrupt person."UNILAD has reached out to James' office for comment. The president has a long history and long-running feud with James, with the attorney general winning a whopping $454 million civil judgment against Trump’s business dealings. However, a New York appeals court overturned the ruling in 2026.New York Gov. Kathy Hochul confirmed on Friday (October 2) that James had taken control of the criminal investigation over the alleged gang rape.“We will review the facts, gather evidence, interview witnesses, and if warranted pursue prosecutions,” the attorney general said. “I know that you want answers. I do, too.”The alleged victim claims in a 101-page civil complaint that the nonconsensual sexual activity initially involved two men, before other fraternity members allegedly entered the room. The lawsuit goes on to allege that later on, one of the men sent a message to the Chi Phi group chat stating there was 'free [expletive]' upstairs, which Doe claims encouraged other men to be involved. The alleged assault went on for a number of hours according to the lawsuit, after which Doe claims she lost consciousness and later regained consciousness. The alleged incident involving Cornell University students is under investigation (Spencer Platt/Getty Images)Doe reported the alleged sexual assault in 2024, with Tompkins County DA noting that her original statement did not say she had been drugged without her knowledge or that she was unable to consent. It was concluded in 2024 that the evidence did not meet the legal bar to bring charges.Following the alleged incident, two of the seven men were expelled, while Doe also dropped out of the university. If you've been affected by any of the issues in this article, you can contact The National Sexual Assault Hotline on 800.656.HOPE (4673), available 24/7.
