Breck Bednar’s Mum Reveals the Gaming Voice That Raised Alarm

Breck Bednar’s Mum Reveals the Gaming Voice That Raised Alarm

When Breck first switched schools and began reconnecting with his friends, his mum Lorin was overjoyed.Aged 13, he was quickly invited into a gaming group where he would spend time playing against his pals on various platforms. With a keen interest in gaming and technology, the teenagers from Surrey spent evenings ‘laughing, gaming and socialising’ with one another. But when Lorin noticed a ‘deeper sounding voice’ coming from her son’s room, alarm bells started to ring. The fun quickly stopped as the concerned mum began to work through a web of lies to uncover the identity of the unknown man whose manipulation meant he was able to turn the teenager against his own family.AdvertLorin has told of how she was ‘up against brick walls’ at every turn, and how her desperate attempts to report the predator on the other side of the screen went unheard until it was too late.Their harrowing story will now be told in a documentary airing on Prime on 20 October, titled From Minecraft to Murder: The Killing of Breck Bednar. It will reconstruct the pattern of online manipulation which tragically claimed Breck's life.Breck Bednar loved gaming with his friends (Essex Police)"I noticed a deeper sounding voice... my mum ears pricked up"In an interview with LADbible, Lorin told of the moment she first realised something was wrong."Breck had reunited with friends he knew from primary school, and they invited him into a gaming group," she explained.“At the time I was so pleased because he loved gaming, technology and computing. He just understood how things worked.“I was glad that he would meet up with the guys at school and then they'd make a plan and meet up in the evening, gaming and socializing. I could hear them laughing and joking. They were just having fun.“But at one point I noticed there was a deeper sounding voice within the gaming group. Immediately, my mum ears pricked up. I was like, who is this that sounds older?“I asked Breck how he knew him and if he was the same age, and he said to me, ‘mum, he runs the server. He’s super clever. All the guys have been gaming with him for years’.Lorin with her son Breck, who tragically died (Submitted)"He had nothing bad to say about this stranger, but I still felt like we didn’t know who he was. A lot of people thought I was paranoid, but that’s what parents do. We have rules, we have worries and we have concerns.“I really struggled to get anyone to believe at that point there could be anything untoward about this relationship. But as a parent I felt I had a right to question an older sounding voice, who in the end, turned out to be a predator.“In the back of my head, I always thought that this predator was older. I pictured some creepy, fat, old guy in his underpants trying to entice the boys to send them naked photos. It made me sound even more paranoid."Breck, who played games like Battlefield and Call of Duty with his friends, was actually communicating with an older teenager called Lewis Daynes, who ran the online server.Within weeks of playing alongside him, Breck, a member of 135 Squadron Air Training Corps, began refusing to go to church, said he didn't need to go to school, and stopped sitting with his family during mealtimes.Breck loved gaming with friends online but was slowly groomed by an older teenager (Essex Police)Breck's personality 'changed' as he was groomed onlineLorin described how his ‘personality changed’ and that she knew he was being groomed, sharing her concerns with police and the school. Her son had also become more distant from friends and family. But looking back, she said there was a lack of understanding and education about grooming, especially when boys were the victim. Despite this, she always trusted her instincts.“I actually didn't really know that much about grooming other than what I had heard in the news,” she said. “It was usually about the poor girls who were groomed in Rotherham and Rochdale and groomed face to face with drugs and sex involved, so it was a completely different situation.“But I still felt like he was mentoring them, teaching them, but also changing the way they thought. Breck would say odd things like ‘Lewis says I shouldn't have to join the family dinner if I'm not hungry. Lewis says I shouldn't have to go on family walks anymore. Lewis says I don’t have to finish school because he can get me an amazing job'."And I felt like I was suddenly up against some stranger who was like some other parent."Lewis Daynes' mugshot before he was jailed for more than 20 years (Essex Police)She went on: “I could tell it wasn’t a healthy relationship. I tried to talk to other parents and they either didn’t want to know or I didn’t have their contact details. I felt like I was up against brick walls.”“I could tell something didn’t feel right, but I couldn't get anyone to believe me. Breck thought he was just having fun, and I think when you are being groomed, it’s enjoyable because this person is paying so much attention to you.“I didn’t know it at the time, but Breck was getting gifts, free software, free games. So it was probably more exciting for them learning from this predator than sitting in a class.”Breck was groomed by Lewis Daynes after meeting on gaming platforms (Getty Stock)Concerns raised to policeWhen Lorin would enter Breck’s bedroom, she claimed Lewis would organise for witches to appear on the gaming screen When I’d go into Breck’s room, I’d see gamers on one screen in a bid to embarrass her son.She eventually called the police and informed them of Lewis’ name, explaining how the Essex-based teenager had claimed to be a different age and falsely from New York.Nothing went any further, despite Lewis previously being reported for offences on other young victims. After an intervention meeting with other involved parents, Breck had his devices taken off him.Essex Police were contacted (John Keeble/Getty Images)But what Lorin didn’t know, was that Breck had secretly recorded the conversation with an old MP3 player, which was given to Lewis and revealed that ‘they were onto him’.“Then it all became even more dangerous because it went underground,” Lorin confessed. “When I spoke to people, they would all say ‘Breck’s a nice boy’ and ‘he’ll grow out of it’.“Nobody looked at him as having a vulnerability because he was a schoolboy. This predator was finding those vulnerabilities. He was building them up and making them feel like he was giving them more attention than their parents who actually loved them. So I became the bad guy. I became the one who was ‘holding Breck back’.“I did take all his technology away, which was the last straw. I told him I was worried and wanted him to be safe, but he couldn’t see it. He didn’t feel unsafe. He enjoyed the flattery, the attention, the mentoring.”Unbeknownst to Lorin, Lewis had actually sent Breck a new phone, which they used to keep in communication with one another in secret.“Once Lewis knew that we didn’t want him in the boys’ lives everything became so secretive that we actually thought we had fixed the problem,” Lorin said. “He went back to acting normally, he was doing his chores when asked, sitting with us at dinner, involved in family activities. I had no idea the police investigation had been closed either, and there was nothing new to report.”However, it was on 17 February, 2014 that horror struck.Breck, who had been due to stay with his father over the weekend, never arrived. Instead, he said he was sleeping at a friends house, but had secretly travelled to see Daynes after months of talking in the gaming forums.Hours later, Breck’s three siblings began to receive text messages that their brother had been murdered, and that photos of him had been callously posted on social media.Pictures of his body had also been shared in their online gaming group, and word quickly spread.Daynes, who was then 18, had managed to lure Breck to his flat on the premise of handing a fictional computer business. Instead, he was fatally stabbed in the throat. There was also evidence of sexual activity between the two shortly before Breck was killed, a court heard at the time.Chelmsford Crown Court was told how Daynes had promised Breck ‘great wealth’ through a fictional computer business. The following morning, Daynes called the police and told them Breck had tried to take his own life, and in the struggle to save him, he had stabbed him.But it was noticed how duct tape had been used to tie Breck's ankles and wrists, and his clothes were found in a bin bag in Daynes' flat.Lorin and Breck (Supplied)“Breck got hurt because he made mistakes, and didn’t realise that online friends are different to real-life friends,” Lorin explained.Computer engineer Lewis, who was 19 at the time of being sentenced to life in prison, was told he would have to serve a minimum term of 25 years for the attack. There were serious questions over the police handling of the case after it was revealed that Daynes was arrested on suspicion of the rape and sexual assault of a 15-year-old alleged victim three years prior. The offences had been reported to police in 2011 but no action was taken, meaning they were only re-investigated when he was questioned over the murder.“There’s children that are dying”In the years after the fatal attack, grief-stricken mum Lorin went on to set up the Breck Foundation to raise awareness of online dangers and to promote responsible use of the internet. She told LADbible: “I wanted to really educate people about what a healthy relationship is, whether that is online or face to face.“I am not a tech person, so I never endeavoured to teach about the intricacies of computing and gaming, it was more about recognising when someone is asking you to do something that isn’t good for you and is manipulation.Mum Lorin LaFave has spoken out (Multitude Media)“I wanted it to have a real focus on education. It started out as awareness of grooming, awareness of online harms. Not to scare anyone, not to take it all away, but to be more empowered. Then it became empowering young people to try to stand up against this behaviour.“As time went on, I realised I could educate until I'm blue in the face, but we really need law changes and we need changes in the platforms themselves to have safety by design.“Being a teenager is an amazing and fun time - if you make it through. There are children that are dying for all sorts of reasons and being harmed in all sorts of different ways.“So many people have said that by using Breck's story, it just makes this more real. Breck was one of the early atrocities. But maybe if Breck and his friends heard a story like this, things would be different.”The Breck Foundation was set up in memory of the teenager (Breck Foundation)Lorin has previously been an advocate calling on tougher social media restrictions and championing the UK’s Online Safety Act.It will see the introduction of age limits on certain platforms and a social media ban on under-16s from next March.“This is why when we talk about a ban, I don’t like that wording at all. I don’t want to ban or take anything away from anyone.“I feel strongly about raising the age of social media to give young people more time to just grow, gain their education and get a bit more maturity so they can better recognise an unhealthy relationship.”Essex Police issues responseA statement issued by Essex Police in 2015 confirmed that an independent complaints procedure found that the initial investigation into Daynes' allegations against another minor was 'thorough'.A statement read: "The Independent Police Complaints Commission has conducted an independent investigation into previous contact between Essex Police and Lewis Daynes relating to an allegation made against Daynes in 2011 of serious sexual assault."The IPCC concludes that the Essex Police 2011 criminal investigation was thorough and in accordance with Force policies. The IPCC has stated that the Essex Police officers’ decision in 2011 to take ‘no further action’ against Daynes was appropriate in the circumstances."Daynes did not come to Essex Police’s attention again until February 2014 following the death of Breck Bednar."Daynes was subsequently convicted for the murder of Breck Bednar and sentenced to a minimum of 25 years imprisonment following a detailed investigation by the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate."

Why the ‘Godzilla’ El Niño Could Intensify Before Its December Peak

Why the ‘Godzilla’ El Niño Could Intensify Before Its December Peak

Published 10:30 18 Oct 2026 GMT+1The 2026 El Niño has already surpassed 2015's record peak El Niño's expected peak has been predicted following sea level temperatures having already risen higher than previous records set in 2015. The natural climate cycle has built up quite the reputation, nicknamed the 'Super' El Niño and even acquiring the nickname 'Godzilla'.And it's certainly living up to these titles too, the current El Niño pushing the surface waters of the central and eastern tropical Pacific Ocean up to unprecedented levels, prompting extreme weather events including hurricane warnings and even a 'winter storm battleground'.El Niño is the extreme warm phase, joined by the cold phase, La Niña, both making up The El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO). The World Meterological Organization (WMO) notes: "Both El Niño and La Niña generally begin developing between March and June and reach their peak intensity between November and February."AdvertBut when can we expect to see the current 'Godzilla' El Niño's peak given daily sea surface temperatures in the central-eastern Pacific have already overtaken records of 2015, measuring 3.05°C above average on 19 September - compared to 3.02°C 11 years ago, as per the BBC.Well, the WMO updated last month that we should prepare to lock in for a rocky few months...El Niño has still yet to peak (Global Imagery Browse Services (GIBS) courtesy of NASA, VIIRS data courtesy of NOAA)When El Niño is expected to peak In its September 2026 El Niño/La Niña Update it confirmed 'a nearly 100 percent likelihood that El Niño will persist through September–November 2026 and December 2026–February 2027'.Australia's Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) revealed the current El Niño is already at 'near-record levels'."The latest weekly relative Niño3.4 index value for the week ending 11 October 2026 is +2.81°C, well above the El Niño threshold (+0.80°C)," it explained. The WMO warned forecasts indicate it's only expected to strengthen further in upcoming months, 'with the event forecast to reach very strong intensity before peaking towards the end of the year'.It predicts the 2026 El Niño will peak with a sea-surface temperature increase of 3.7 °C around December and that this will persist through February. But how could this impact the weather? The WMO's predictions (WMO) The wider impact of increased sea-surface temperatures of El Niño This will lead to an increase in 'the likelihood of above-normal temperatures across much of the world, driving significant shifts in rainfall patterns,' WMO’s monthly Global Seasonal Climate Update states."Combined with exceptionally warm global oceans and the likelihood of a positive Indian Ocean Dipole, the El Niño is expected to shape weather patterns across many parts of the world in the months ahead," it noted. This could include heightened risks of extreme heat, floods, and drought.Increased heat, as WMO’s Secretary-General, Celeste Saulo, explained to Huffpost: “El Niño doesn’t add new heat to the planet. It releases heat the ocean has already been storing beneath the surface – which is why a strong event so often becomes one of the hottest years measured (as with 2024).“The ocean it’s drawing from is the warmest we’ve ever measured it. There is simply more heat available to release.”Featured Image Credit: Severe Weather EuropeTopics: Weather, World News, El Niño, Climate Change, Environment

Red Bikini Girl Océane Responds After Paris Metro Stunt Backlash

Red Bikini Girl Océane Responds After Paris Metro Stunt Backlash

Updated 16:16 18 Oct 2026 GMT+1Published 15:59 18 Oct 2026 GMT+1Océane stuck on her red swimwear once again - but this time, she was musing around a Paris metro stationThe woman who gained online notoriety for frolicking in a red bikini at a foam party has come under fire for her latest scantily-clad post.Océane, who is better known as the 'red bikini girl' or Aora DJ on social media, has been dining out on the viral fame that the clip of her dancing in Lloret de Mar, Spain, has brought since July. However, her latest Instagram post has prompted a bit of backlash for a variety of reasons - and the 20-year-old has now snapped back at her critics. Océane has racked up a whopping 200,000 followers on the photo sharing platform after footage of her summertime antics spread like wildfire online. AdvertGiven nobody knew her name at the time, the internet dubbed her the 'red bikini girl' until she was eventually tracked down. Océane's latest video has raised some eyebrows (Instagram/@aora.d)She said that the 'simple' video of her dancing had 'changed her life completely' in a post shared after she was identified, while revealing what she believes made the video resonate with people."I think if it touched so many people, it’s because I was just being myself: spontaneous, natural, and with a desire to enjoy every moment," Océane wrote. "I’m truly moved by all your messages - more and more of them- coming in from all over the world. I still can’t quite believe everything that’s happening to me."One thing is certain: I’ll stay true to myself. No pretense, no fakery - just natural, with a smile, and living my life the way I want to. This adventure is just beginning." Despite Océane saying she is only just getting started, a lot of people now seem to think her five minutes of fame might nearly be up. 'The iconic red bikini is back'In a video shared to Instagram on Thursday (15 October), she sported a red bikini once again - but this time, she was strutting around a metro station in Paris. After flaunting her physique for a few seconds, she then filmed herself strapping an iPhone onto the window of the train that was packed with commuters with some seriously strong tape. It began moving mere moments later - and she then chased after it for a few seconds, before the train continued to travel right past the iconic Eiffel Tower and the River Seine.Océane was taking part in a bizarre TikTok trend that is growing in popularity, much to the dismay of transport bosses. She captioned the clip: "Wait for the view…The iconic red bikini is back." As you can imagine, for starts, tons of social media users were stunned to see her donning swimwear in the metro station - which led a lot of people to suspect that Océane had used artificial intelligence to create the video. One person wrote: "Definitely AI." "Lol it's just AI," another claimed. "She took the same video someone else did but just in a little outfit, that's all lol." A third wrote: "Is this your whole personality? That you danced in a red bikini in some club once?"While a fourth commented: "People who really believe it's real...When it's actually a video of a guy that was re-shot and generated using AI! It's becoming more and more realistic." Amid the mounting allegations that she used AI, Océane responded to this comment saying: "It's so well done that you think it's AI?" She sprinted through the station wearing nothing but a red bikini (Instagram/@aora.d)She also hit back at critics who slammed her for wearing a red bikini in a public space in a similar sarcastic fashion, saying that she believes it's 'more practical' than wearing clothing. Others lurking in her brimming comment section said it was 'sad how quickly five minute of fame falls' and questioned 'how she was not embarrassed' - but others described the clip as 'iconic'. One wrote: "Absolute cinema, the timing, the risk, the view!!!" Another said they thought the video was 'actually pretty neat' - while another urged her to reveal what tape she had used to stick the phone to the train, given it held on 'amazingly' well. Océane previously explained that some of the unsavoury responses she has received to her online content 'hurt her a lot' at first, but said it's like water off a ducks back for her now. The star theme carries into the caption, where Wright called her newborn her 'little star'.The site adds that the ancient wildflowers are tied to mysticism and several origin stories. Why Pamela Anderson No Longer Wears Makeup at Major Events

Updated 11:42 18 Oct 2026 GMT+1Published 20:28 3 Dec 2024 GMTAnderson said that it had felt 'freeing' to go without makeupPamela Anderson shared the reason that she decided to stop wearing makeup completely.Anderson, 57, developed a distinctive look in with her smokey eye and over-lined lips which became an iconic look for her back in the 90s and 2000s.But despite how associated this look became with her, Anderson go on to make the decision to ditch makeup altogether. It comes after Anderson stunned on the red carpet at the Academy Museum Gala, wearing a white blouse paired with a long and flowing mint green skirt and her hair done up into curls.AdvertWhile there's no doubt that she can pull off a great look with no makeup, Anderson has previously spoken about the sad reason that she made the decision. In August 2023 Anderson walked out at Paris Fashion Week wearing no makeup, and would later say that she had decided to not wear makeup as she didn't feel like she wanted to anymore after her makeup artist Alexis Vogel died of breast cancer in 2019.Pamela Anderson's hair and make-up look made her famous back in the 1990s (Brenda Chase/Online USA/Getty Images)Since then, Anderson explained that she has just not had the heart to wear makeup without Alexis there, and has also reflected more broadly on what makeup and beauty mean for her. "She was the best," Anderson said of Vogel's death and their working relationship during an interview with Elle."And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it’s just better for me not to wear makeup," she continued. Not only that, but Anderson would even say that her decision to go without makeup had been 'freeing, and fun, and a little rebellious' for her.During a recent appearance at the 2024 Gotham Film Awards - where she had received a nomination for her role in Gia Coppola's drama film - Anderson reflected further on her decision to go makeup-free, as well as what it felt like for her to wear makeup during filming."I love to wear makeup too sometimes," she explained to PEOPLE."It has a time and a place. I just feel in my personal life, it just didn't really make sense."The actress then went on to reflect on what 'beauty' means to her, adding: "Being brave and living your dreams. It's never too late."Ditching makeup isn't the only lifestyle change Anderson has made in recent years, with the actress previously explaining why she decided to leave Hollywood behind - and how leaving cosmetics behind factored into this.Pamela Anderson at the 2024 Gotham Film Awards (James Devaney/GC Images)"[It] was the beginning of me letting go of the image I had always had of myself," she told Better Homes and Gardens magazine. As to why she decided to move back to her native Canada, Anderson added: "I was not in a good space when I moved back to Canada. I don’t know what happened over the last few decades, but I feel now so far removed from the image of who I was. I felt very sad and lonely."It came to a point where I decided to move home and disappear and get into my garden."Featured Image Credit: Kevin Winter/GA/The Hollywood Reporter via Getty ImagesTopics: Celebrity, Entertainment, Pamela Anderson, Lifestyle

(Michael Tullberg/Getty Images)Pointing from her lip to her chin, the star added: "One time, it was this color black, all the way down here. I have an indentation left from it."To which she woke up thinking 'what the hell' at the time.Sharon speculated that her surgeon had left his friend in charge of her procedure while he 'took a phone call', and later 'complained' about the service she had received. "You go, 'What is in this that you’re injecting me with?' and they go, 'Don’t worry. It’s my special concoction. It’ll work'."She noted that it in fact did not work, and has instead left her with a 'dent' - which her two children claimed they could not see. However, it isn't the only factor behind her decision to step away from plastic surgery."I cannot have another facelift," she claimed. (Karwai Tang/WireImage)Sharon has spoken openly about how her attitude towards ageing and her appearance has changed over the years, prompting her to reconsider the procedures she once underwent."You have your face done. You’ve got a tight face,” she said, expressing that she feels the need to change other parts of her body too. The star claimed her arms are 'wrinkly and marked'."It’s like, what about the rest of you? You’ve got a face that looks 50, and your body looks your age," she said. In 2023, she publicly swore it off altogether, but when asked by her son if she's done, Sharon said: "Oh Jack. Who am I doing it for now?""Time is against me, I cannot have another facelift."Featured Image Credit: Rich Polk/Getty Images for Universal Studios HollywoodTopics: Celebrity, Sharon Osbourne, Beauty

Denise Richards Sparks Reactions With Striking Facelift Before-and-After Photos

Updated 20:57 15 Oct 2026 GMT+1Published 15:37 15 Oct 2026 GMT+1The Bond girl opened up about why she decided to go public with her facelift resultsEarlier this year, Denise Richards went public with the reveal of the facelift she had done in 2025.The former Bond girl said she'd initially told herself she would 'never' get one, but after sharing incredible before-and-after photos, she called it the ‘best thing’ she’s done. And to be honest, we’re still not over the results of the reported $200,000 facelift, as some have even compared it to a total ‘head transplant’.Already known for her stunning looks before it, Richards previously said she had it done to get a brighter and tighter complexion in a bid to ‘put things back up where they were before’.AdvertThe 55-year-old trusted her face with celebrity plastic surgeon Dr Ben Talei, who specialises in ‘natural, long-lasting facelift and neck lift surgery'. His site explains that facelifts 'aim to address signs of aging in the lower face and neck by lifting and tightening sagging skin and muscles'.She opened up more on a recent podcast. (YouTube/The Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg Show)Why Denise Richards went public about her faceliftThe Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star appeared on The Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg Show earlier this week when she explained the announcement.Richards had the facelift back in June 2025, a month before her ex Aaron Phypers filed for divorce.Denise Richards in 2023 (left) and 2026 (right) (YouTube/Bethenny Frankel/The Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg Show)She alleged that during proceedings, he ‘said something in court about it on purpose’.“I was so pleasantly surprised because there was media in there that didn't print it, which was nice,” Richards explained on the podcast.“But I figured, you know what, I think I just need to be honest. And I didn't want to give him that power and have to say it then."Denise Richards pictured in 2024 (left) and last month (right) (Charles Sykes/Bravo via Getty Images/JC Olivera/Variety via Getty Images)Now, she’s ‘so glad’ that she’s been open about the facelift.“I didn't know how people would react, but I think I want to know what everyone's doing. What's peptides, what's this, what's that,” she said.Plus, she was so pleased with Dr Talei’s work that she ‘wanted to share the information’.She told Allure last year when she first opened up about the facelift: "I always said I would never get a facelift, because that's my face. This is how I make my money."If things go a little sideways when you do some other part of your body, you could cover it. So I was always scared of a facelift."But, after thinking about it for two years, she took the plunge and went under the knife. It really is amazing work (Instagram/@drbentalei)Before and after Denise Richards’ faceliftRichards appearance on the podcast this week has led to the images of her facelift going viral again. One user wrote on X: “The new face lifts are literally insane it’s like basically a head transplant.”Another wrote: “The surgeon put his foot on the back of Denise Richards’ neck and YANKED her back to 1998, she looks absolutely incredible (although she also looked great before), flawless work.”Simply amazing (Instagram/@drbentalei)It’s been widely agreed that it’s one of the ‘best facelifts’ people have ever seen as one wrote online: “It really is. She still looks like herself, only younger but also still not really young, if that makes sense? No weird distortions.”"She looks amazing," plenty have said as another wrote: "I'm not a fan of cosmetic surgery but the doctor did do a good job on her.""Denise really got yanked back to 1998 and I’m lowkey taking notes cause that glow is everything right now babe," one put.LADbible has contacted a representative for Aaron Phypers for a comment.Featured Image Credit: JB Lacroix/WireImageTopics: Denise Richards, Celebrity News, Entertainment

Grok Reveals Who Likely Wins 2016 if Donald Trump Never Runs

Grok Reveals Who Likely Wins 2016 if Donald Trump Never Runs

Published 13:20 17 Oct 2026 GMT+1Grok revealed who is likely to have run America instead of Donald Trump had he never won his first electionArtificial intelligence thinks Hilary Clinton would have won the 2016 election had Donald Trump not run against her.Trump's first inauguration was in January 2017. After four years in office he went on to lose to Joe Biden, who was POTUS 2021 to 2025.But Trump made a momentous return to the White House last year and now the midterms are just a couple of weeks away. It's not new information that Trump has his critics – his niece Mary Trump being one of them – and it's lead some to question how the US would have looked had he never been president.AdvertAnd who's best to answer this question? Grok (apparently).Somebody quizzed the Twitter bot: "Hey @Grok, what would America look like today if Donald Trump had never run for president? Think deeply, beyond the obvious."Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton went head-to-head in the 2016 election (TIMOTHY A. CLARY/AFP via Getty Images)Grok replied: "Without Trump running, Hillary Clinton likely takes 2016. The Court stays left-leaning longer, reshaping abortion, regulation, and rights cases. Trade remains more open, with less confrontation toward China."GOP populism lacks a unifying vessel and surfaces later or differently. Institutional trust erodes more slowly. COVID and the 2020s play out with less personality-driven intensity. Structural pressures on borders, industry, and culture still force realignments, just through other figures by 2026."Interesting...The commentary from Grok comes ahead of the US midterms on November 3, and this is something else AI has weighed in on.ChatGPT predicted that it could be a big win for the Democrats next month and that the political party could end up controlling the House. It's been forecast that the Republicans may lose out to the Democrats at the midterms (Aaron Schwartz/Getty Images)"An independent forecast puts their chances of controlling the House at around 61 per cent, although other models are less optimistic," AI said. However, the number of Democratic voters turning up to vote next month is of concern. Reuters noted that while Democratic voters are typically more enthusiastic than Republicans, young voters aren't as reliable when it comes to the midterms. For example, in 2022 the majority of voters were aged 50 and over (making up nearly twice as much of the electorate compared to voters under the age of 50).One thing that is also in Republicans' favor is that it gets more funding. Andrew Busch, a public policy professor at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, warned: "Any time you have one side with a big financial advantage and the ability to pour it into races at the last minute, it can tip the result of close races."In terms of the Senate, ChatGPT said there was only a 'slight lean' towards to Democrats, meaning it'll be a 'toss up' between which party wins the majority.Featured Image Credit: Alex Wong/Getty ImagesTopics: Artificial Intelligence, Donald Trump, Politics
