Grok Reveals Who Likely Wins 2016 if Donald Trump Never Runs

Published 13:20 17 Oct 2026 GMT+1Grok revealed who is likely to have run America instead of Donald Trump had he never won his first electionArtificial intelligence thinks Hilary Clinton would have won the 2016 election had Donald Trump not run against her.Trump's first inauguration was in January 2017. After four years in office he went on to lose to Joe Biden, who was POTUS 2021 to 2025.But Trump made a momentous return to the White House last year and now the midterms are just a couple of weeks away. It's not new information that Trump has his critics – his niece Mary Trump being one of them – and it's lead some to question how the US would have looked had he never been president.AdvertAnd who's best to answer this question? Grok (apparently).Somebody quizzed the Twitter bot: "Hey @Grok, what would America look like today if Donald Trump had never run for president? Think deeply, beyond the obvious."Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton went head-to-head in the 2016 election (TIMOTHY A. CLARY/AFP via Getty Images)Grok replied: "Without Trump running, Hillary Clinton likely takes 2016. The Court stays left-leaning longer, reshaping abortion, regulation, and rights cases. Trade remains more open, with less confrontation toward China."GOP populism lacks a unifying vessel and surfaces later or differently. Institutional trust erodes more slowly. COVID and the 2020s play out with less personality-driven intensity. Structural pressures on borders, industry, and culture still force realignments, just through other figures by 2026."Interesting...The commentary from Grok comes ahead of the US midterms on November 3, and this is something else AI has weighed in on.ChatGPT predicted that it could be a big win for the Democrats next month and that the political party could end up controlling the House. It's been forecast that the Republicans may lose out to the Democrats at the midterms (Aaron Schwartz/Getty Images)"An independent forecast puts their chances of controlling the House at around 61 per cent, although other models are less optimistic," AI said. However, the number of Democratic voters turning up to vote next month is of concern. Reuters noted that while Democratic voters are typically more enthusiastic than Republicans, young voters aren't as reliable when it comes to the midterms. For example, in 2022 the majority of voters were aged 50 and over (making up nearly twice as much of the electorate compared to voters under the age of 50).One thing that is also in Republicans' favor is that it gets more funding. Andrew Busch, a public policy professor at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, warned: "Any time you have one side with a big financial advantage and the ability to pour it into races at the last minute, it can tip the result of close races."In terms of the Senate, ChatGPT said there was only a 'slight lean' towards to Democrats, meaning it'll be a 'toss up' between which party wins the majority.Featured Image Credit: Alex Wong/Getty ImagesTopics: Artificial Intelligence, Donald Trump, Politics

Dr Jeremy London Reveals the Habit Damaging Nearly Every Organ

Dr Jeremy London Reveals the Habit Damaging Nearly Every Organ

Updated 14:06 17 Oct 2026 GMT+1Published 19:01 12 Oct 2025 GMT+1Dr Jeremy London explained this bad habit does a lot more damage than people tend to realiseA doctor has revealed what he believes the 'worst thing you can do' to your body is - and more than a billion people do it every day. Despite this bad habit being one of the biggest public health threats the world has ever faced, it is still unbelievably popular, much to Dr Jeremy London's dismay. He explained that smoking does a lot more damage than the average person might think, as it impacts almost every organ in the body. The cardiovascular surgeon, from the US, shares 'easy-to-understand, relatable health information' online in the hopes of inspiring people to take good care of themselves. AdvertDr London previously uploaded a clip to his YouTube channel detailing the 'top three preventable risk factors for all-cause mortality' - which he believes are smoking, a poor diet and high blood pressure. Smoking impacts a lot more than just your lungs (Getty Stock Images)A lot of folks seem to think smoking only wreaks havoc on your lungs, but when you inhale, the toxic substances packed inside of a cigarette travel through your airways, into your bloodstream and throughout your entire body. Dr London kicked off the video by describing sparking up a cigarette being 'the single worst thing you can do for your body'. "It damages nearly every organ system, increases the risk of heart attack, stroke, and is responsible for the vast majority of lung cancer deaths," he said. "Roughly one in five deaths are linked to tobacco use. If you smoke, think long and hard about quitting. "It's the most powerful step you can take for your health."The World Health Organisation agrees, as it describes the tobacco epidemic as 'one of the biggest public health threats the world has ever faced'. According to the WHO, smoking is the cause of more than 7 million deaths annually as well as disability and long-term suffering from tobacco-related diseases - but there are still a whopping 1.2 billion tobacco users worldwide.Even just one cigarette can take 20 minutes off your life, according to scientific studies.Simulations have also revealed the impact that smoking and vaping can have if you do it for just a month of your life, and the damage it can do to your lungs, in particular, can be huge.Dr London said quitting smoking is the 'most powerful step you can take for your health' (Getty Stock Image)Dr London went on to explain why a poor diet and high blood pressure are two other things that can easily send you to an early grave. He added: "Diets low in fruits and vegetables, high in trans fats, and ultraprocessed foods contribute to the same proportion of deaths as smoking, mainly from cardiovascular disease. "Now, food is information for your body. Design a nutritional plan that works for you and be thoughtful about what you put in your mouth."And finally, high blood pressure, the silent killer. It affects one in two Americans, and most have no idea. Chronic elevation of the systolic blood pressure, the top number, damages the heart, brain, and kidneys."The good news is it's highly modifiable through lifestyle, diet, stress management, and medication when necessary. Be proactive, not reactive."Featured Image Credit: SEBASTIAN KAULITZKI/SCIENCE PHOTO LIBRARYTopics: Health, Vaping

What Really Happens to Your Body When You Suddenly Quit Vaping?

What Really Happens to Your Body When You Suddenly Quit Vaping?

Published 14:00 17 Oct 2026 GMT+1W3D revealed that after two weeks without smoking, 'taste' starts to get better Vaping is a habit that has been at the center of debate for some time, with people arguing about its health risks. But that doesn’t mean quitting is without its setbacks. E-cigarettes came into fashion as an alternative way to smoke instead of using tobacco products. Even though vaping is relatively new and the long-term effects are still being studied, it doesn’t mean it’s a whole lot better for your health than smoking. Dr. Michael Genovese, Chief Medical Advisor of Ascendant NY, once told UNILAD: "Vaping has not been around for long enough to know all the risks of long-term use. As vaping is a relatively new practice, the long-term health risks are not yet fully understood. Advert"While vaping is generally less harmful than smoking, it is not harmless. Smoking, meanwhile, has well-established risks of cancer, heart disease, stroke, and chronic lung disease.” Vaping and its impact has been revealed (Getty Stock Images)With this in mind, a lot of people have made the choice to quit vaping, why what actually happens to your body when you quit cold turkey? According to a YouTube simulation by W3D, it’s a hard process, The video, which shows a graphic of a man going through the withdrawal motions, reveals: “Day one, your brain is in full panic mode. No nicotine means no dopamine, so you feel anxious, irritated, maybe even empty.” But the emotional ordeal is just the beginning. W3D said: “By day three, your body starts detoxing. Headaches hit. Your chest feels tight.” They went on to say of the detox process: “You might cough up mucus because your lungs are finally trying to clean themselves. Sleep gets weird. You're tired but wired. Cravings come in waves.” They added that next, cravings get worse as 'your brain begs for a hit.’ “By week two, the fog lifts,” the simulation details. “Your taste buds wake up. Your heartbeat steadies. But the hardest part isn't physical. It's breaking the habit loop your brains relied on for months, maybe years.” So, it seems that the worst occurs over a two-week period, and once you’re over the hill, things get a lot better. Of course, a lot of viewers flocked to the video, and people in the comments revealed the impact the simulation had on them after watching, as well as other ways they made the choice to stop. Even quitting comes at a price (Getty Stock Images)One user said: “I quit vaping last year because i realized that i am a muay thai fighter so i have to quit vaping so i quit vaping and i made my stamina good by sprinting daily at home and training for the people are vaping pls stop vaping it's bad for you especially if you're a kid STOP VAPING.” Another wrote: “I quit cold turkey and got no withdrawals because I never even thought of it as quitting or made a big deal about it, change your mindset and you can do it a better method is to trust in god.” Someone else said: “I stopped about 2 weeks ago cold turkey when I seen my 4yr old son pretending to vape a stick he found, honestly for me it was no challenge after seeing that.” However, it didn’t have the desired result for everyone and in some instances, it had the opposite effect. One person said: “Yeah it sounds too scary to even start.” Another wrote: “This video made me hit my vape. I haven't touched it in like 2 hours but I instantly craved it when I started watching.....” Someone else said: “Ive always been told the easiest way to quit vaping or smoking is by never beginning with it in the first place.” Featured Image Credit: Getty StockTopics: YouTube, Vaping, Health

Ellen DeGeneres Sparks Reactions After Her Awkward Graham Norton Appearance

Ellen DeGeneres Sparks Reactions After Her Awkward Graham Norton Appearance

Published 14:17 17 Oct 2026 GMT+1The ex talk show host admitted she's missed 'being on TV' after moving to the UK two years agoHaving barely been seen in the public eye in recent years, Ellen DeGeneres appeared on British telly last night on The Graham Norton Show. The former talk show host confessed she misses ‘being on TV’ after her long-running show was cancelled in 2022.Ellen moved to the UK after that, in 2024, with her wife, Portia de Rossi, so she’s had plenty of time to immerse herself in British TV culture. But while she spoke about having ‘nothing really going on’, Graham Norton viewers were too busy finding it ‘awkward to watch’.AdvertAnd that partly is because unlike her fellow guests, Quentin Tarantino, Colin Farrell and Gemma Chan, she didn’t actually have anything to plug. She was just simply, there, talking about things she seemingly wants to do.The Ellen Show ended in 2022. (James Devaney/GC Images)Ellen on Graham NortonWhile the other guests spoke about their upcoming projects, Ellen confessed: “I’ve nothing really going on and I really miss being on TV.”The 68-year-old’s talk show came to an end after 19 seasons amid allegations of an unhealthy and ‘toxic work environment’ which she later followed with an apology to staffers. The American said there ‘a lot’ she missed about the industry, such as ‘laughing with the writers and the audience’. She went on to say that she does think about doing stuff in the UK.Ellen joked: “I think it is pretty easy to get on tv here – you have a pottery show, you have a sewing show, and you even have a show about people watching tv shows!”Her appearance left some viewers baffled. (BBC/PA Wire)‘Awkward’ appearanceQuite a few viewers were baffled to see Ellen on the show altogether, regardless of the fact she didn’t necessarily seem to be promoting anything. Although, some fans were pleased to see her back on TV.“Why does it look so awkward that Ellen DeGeneres is on The Graham Norton Show?,” one wrote. Some even queried if she’d paid as a fan to be on the BBC show as one X user called it a ‘random guest choice’.“I didn’t expect Ellen DeGeneres to rock up on The Graham Norton Show last night. She was pretty much cancelled and retired to the English Countryside the last time I heard,” another put. While many were simply asking: “Why is Ellen Degeneres on Graham Norton?”“why tf is ellen degeneres on the graham norton show tonight ???” another put.Well, it seems the answer to that, for now anyway, is that she just misses being on the telly.Featured Image Credit: BBC/PA WireTopics: Ellen DeGeneres, The Graham Norton Show, Celebrity News, Entertainment

Mother of Silver Rail School Shooting Suspect Breaks Her Silence

Mother of Silver Rail School Shooting Suspect Breaks Her Silence

Updated 12:14 17 Oct 2026 GMT+1Published 11:40 17 Oct 2026 GMT+116-year-old Griffin J. John II is believed to be the shooter who killed three children and one teacher at Silver Rail ElementaryThe mother of the suspected Oregon shooter who is believed to have killed three children and one teacher in the special needs class of a school he used to attend has spoken out.According to reports, 16-year-old Griffin J. John II began his rampage at the Silver Rail Elementary school on Thursday (October 15) after hopping a fence and shooting at a man and then his way through the side entrance. From there, The New York Times reported he entered a special needs class which held four children and three teachers and killed three children aged 5, 8 and 11.The fourth child, a 7-year-old girl, was wounded and in ‘serious but stable’ condition, officials say, 25-year-old Megan Lambert (one of the teachers), was killed and another seriously wounded.AdvertThe third teacher was not hurt and allegedly threw their phone at the attacker, slowing him down in his assault with what is said to have been a pump-action shotgun belonging to his mother.According to police, he shot approximately 15 rounds and held 44 more in his backpack.Shauntai May Nickerson, his mother, has since spoken out about her son, and told The New York Times her child was ‘a good boy, he really was.’She added: "If I could have prevented this, I would have."Previously, Griffin’s mother spoke out about his struggles in 2020, with her claiming to KTVZ that he had been finding remote learning hard due to needing trained educators to help him due to his special needs.Griffin, who was 10 at the time, was allegedly finding the transition to remote learning hard. The mother of 16-year-old Griffin J. John II has spoken out (Photo by Payton Bruni / AFP via Getty Images)The ordeal this week has since left a mark on the community, and also on the man who was identified as apprehending the shooter and killing him.Per police, Griffin’s alleged killing spree came to an end when Kaylub Giamanco, the father of two students at the school, chased him and fatally shot him.“I don’t think we can underestimate or under appreciate that courage — when someone is willing to risk their own life for others,” Chief Mike Krantz of the Bend Police Department said at a news conference on Friday of Giamanco’s actions.“To the people who showed courage in the face of such violence, and intervened to prevent this tragedy from being any worse, we owe you a debt of gratitude,” said Krantz, referring to the teachers who tried to fend Griffin off.Right now, there appears to be one major question that remains unanswered. Griffin’s motive.“Everyone wants to know why, including us,” Chief Krantz said at the news conference. “I think that’s one of the most challenging parts of these types of investigations is determining the why and the motives.”If you or someone you know has been affected by gun violence, please find more information and support via Survivors Empowered on their website. Why Miranda Hart’s Celebrity Traitors Farewell Opened the Emotional Floodgates

Why Miranda Hart’s Celebrity Traitors Farewell Opened the Emotional Floodgates

Updated 11:53 17 Oct 2026 GMT+1Published 11:05 17 Oct 2026 GMT+1The comedian became emotional as she bid Joe Lycett farewell on Friday Miranda Hart described how the debilitating condition that left her 'basically bedbound' has impacted her life on The Celebrity Traitors. Emotions were running high among the stars of the series amid Joe Lycett's banishment on Friday (16 October) and the comedian couldn't help but tear up as she bid her pal farewell. She gushed about the 'connection, laughter and joy' they shared on the The Celebrity Traitors, while explaining that her health issues had previously prevented her from enjoying this side of life.Hart, 53, has previously opened up about the toll that living with Lyme disease for decades has taken on her.AdvertThe total Faithful believes that she contracted the bacterial infection when she was just 14-years-old while she was in the US state of Virginia.Hart and Lycett formed a close bond during their time on Celebrity Traitors (BBC)The NHS explains that Lyme disease is spread to humans by infected ticks and symptoms - such as tiredness, aches and loss of energy - can 'last for years' for some sufferers."It's not clear why this happens to some people and not others," it adds. "This means there's also no agreed treatment."Hart, famed for her hilarious sitcom Miranda, was subsequently diagnosed with Myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) which is also known as chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS).The main symptom of this long-term condition is extreme tiredness, which can make simple tasks feel exhausting. Sleep issues, brain fog and flu-like symptoms are also prevalent. In her 2024 book titled I Haven't Been Entirely Honest With You, Hart explained she began experiencing 'unnerving neurological symptoms' as a teen, which 'got considerably worse' when she turned 40."As did the fatigue from the cell depletion," she wrote. "Yup, all delightful."Why Hart took a hiatus from TVHer illness forced her to step away from the spotlight, so she was 'very excited' to return to TV after enduring a 'tough few years'."Once you’ve been bed and housebound with a fatigue-based chronic illness that takes a long time to be diagnosed - which sadly I know a lot of people will know - you miss life a lot," Hart told the BBC in 2024."Unless you’ve had fatigue [like that], you don’t understand what literally not getting off the floor is."There’d be times where I'd look at a glass of water, and think, I don’t know how to pick that up."All anyone wants is to be heard, accepted, loved and seen... and when you’re not - particularly in a medical situation - it’s the worst."The comedian has discussed what living with a chronic illness is like while on the show (BBC)The Celebrity Traitors star, who is a Faithful, explained that this emotional impact of her decades-long ordeal is what made saying goodbye to fellow comedian Lycett so hard.Upon his banishment, Hart said: "I can't believe how emotional I'm getting. Wow. Connection and laughter and joy are bigger than this game and to meet someone and just play and laugh - it's all us humans need."I've had times in my life when I haven't had that through illness and it's brought up that in a silly sensitive soul."Her co-star James Acaster then offered her a hug, as Hart added: "I haven't played like that in so long. The floodgates just opened i guess, it suddenly wasn't about a silly Faithful or Traitor."Before this series of Celebrity Traitors kicked off earlier this month, she explained that she was 'still living with elements of ME'.The difficulties of living with an 'invisible' illness"And that brings fatigue and pain to manage, but I have come to a point where I feel well enough to step out, and that’s also partly why I’m doing this," Hart said."The joy of mucking about on television again will hopefully outweigh some of the challenges. And I think it will be challenging on my body, so it’ll be interesting, and it’ll take some courage as this is a big next step."When you live with a chronic illness, it’s invisible, so people don’t know that you’re sitting there in pain."But then it reminds you that everybody’s got their thing. So I’m also really looking forward to making friends and looking after each other and hopefully they can carry me up a hill or whatever we’re going to have to do!"She also recalled how she 'wanted to jump about like a schoolgirl with joy' after joining the star-studded cast after taking a 'long' hiatus from TV.The final of this year's Celebrity Traitors will air on 30 October at 8pm and is set to last a whopping 80 minutes.Featured Image Credit: BBCTopics: The Traitors, Health, BBC, Celebrity

The Inhumane CECOT Rules Behind Trump’s US Citizen Prison Debate

The Inhumane CECOT Rules Behind Trump’s US Citizen Prison Debate

Updated 20:50 15 Oct 2026 GMT+1Published 14:52 5 Feb 2025 GMTInmates have said they were told 'the only way you leave here is dead' as they went inDonald Trump has claimed that crime rates in the US are falling because they are sending 'killers, drug dealers and thugs' to a mega-prison in El Salvador. He made the claim on his Truth Social account recently as he posted a video of prisoners being forced into the Centro de Confinamiento del Terrorismo (CECOT), declaring: "This is why murder and other crimes in America are at record lows."The prison opened in 2023 under El Salvadorean president Nayib Bukele’s administration and has been used to incarcerate thousands of people, while the country claims that they could take up to 40,000 inmates. In El Salvador the prison has been used to keep those suspected of gang activity under lock and key, and Trump has deported people from the US to CECOT in the past.AdvertTrump's post suggests he wants to send more people to the prison, where conditions are described as 'inhumane'.The conditions in CECOT have been described as 'inhumane' (Alex Peña/Getty Images)Inside the prison is a security team who monitor inmates 24/7, and with 19 towers surrounding the compound, it's protected by two concrete walls and two electrified fences.Although the United Nations Subcommittee for the Prevention of Torture Miguel Sarre once described it as a 'concrete and steel pit', it seems the Trump administration are in favour of CECOT.Prisoners have to follow a strict set of rules as they have to stay within their cells for 23.5 hours a day and they keep the lights on at all times so they don't know how much time has passed. Many prisoners are kept in a cell together where the temperature can rise to 35C, and they sleep on mattresses of bare metal.Prisoners also aren't given utensils to eat with, so they have to eat with their bare hands.El Salvador says they have 20,000 prisoners in CECOT and they have space for 40,000 (Alex Peña/Getty Images)It's not the first time the question of US citizens being sent to CECOT has been raised, as US Secretary of State Marco Rubio previously announced 'the most unprecedented, extraordinary, migratory agreement anywhere in the world'.Bukele had said he was happy to take in people deported from the US, regardless of their nationality, which would include US citizens."We can send them and he will put them in his jails," Rubio explained at the time."He [Bukele] has also offered to do the same for dangerous criminals currently in custody and serving their sentences in the United States even though they're US citizens or legal residents."However, it is still the case now as it was then that Trump cannot legally deport US citizens and incarcerate them in another country, though the question remains what a court could do to stop him if he just did it anyway, as they told him he couldn't deport Venezuelans to CECOT and it still happened.Featured Image Credit: Alex Peña/Getty ImagesTopics: Crime, World News, US News, Politics

Brian David Mitchell entered her family home on June 5, 2002, and and and his wife Barzee went on to hold Smart captive for nine months.Luckily a member of the public had recognized Smart out in Sandy, Utah, a few months later and alerted the authorities. Then 15, she was found with Brain and Barzee and they were arrested.AdvertSmart's kidnapping is one of the most high profile abduction cases in American history. Since the harrowing experience, Smart, now aged 38 and mom to three kids, has become advocate for survivors of sexual violence and abuse. She also got her own Netflix documentary back in January called Kidnapped: Elizabeth Smart, which recounted her kidnapping and rescue.See the trailer here:In her latest venture, Smart has started her own podcast titled The Survivor Files with Elizabeth Smart. On the program she will interview fellow survivors about their harrowing experiences and journeys toward healing, says PEOPLE.She told the news outlet: "I actually find these stories incredibly inspiring and help me to continue to just try to reach for the life that I want to live."Smart continued: "These people, they are trusting me with their stories. They are sharing the worst moments of their life. They’re making themselves vulnerable. And that can be a really scary thing. "But right off the bat, you know they survived what happened to them. You know they got away, which I think is just a testament to their strength, to their resiliency."Elizabeth Smart seen with her husband and children (elizabeth_smart_official/Instagram)Elsewhere the mom-of-three said she understands that there are some 'pretty terrible people in the world' and, in light of her own experiences, she's made it her mission to teach her daughters how to recognize potentially dangerous situations and trust their instincts.Sharing her advice for women in general, Smart said: "Prioritize your safety over other people’s emotions."There’s this saying, you will never see a gazelle getting into an elevator with a lion. But as women, we typically stifle our intuitions. "And even if there is someone questionable or that makes you feel uncomfortable, we think, 'Oh, I don’t wanna offend them.'"Elizabeth pictured at the age of 15 after she was rescued in 2003 (Alex Wong/Getty Images)But Smart said that this isn't what you should be worrying about. "I think definitely for me, I was raised to be polite and respectful and courteous, and I think that’s great, but I would say that the idea that it was more important to be nice than it was to listen to my gut feeling was wrong," the 38-year-old explained. She added: "In reality, I would hope that my daughters, if they felt something was wrong, would just say, nope, I’m waiting for the next elevator."Featured Image Credit: FOX via Getty ImagesTopics: True crime, Podcast, News

Todd Engel Warns Ozempic Users After Losing His Sight

Todd Engel Warns Ozempic Users After Losing His Sight

Published 11:33 16 Oct 2026 GMT+1"I wake up in the dark, I go to sleep in the darkness".Weight loss medications are all the rage right now, but the tale of Todd Engel may put a few customers off products like Ozempic. From the US state of Maryland, the 63-year-old retired truck driver is now legally blind after being prescribed Ozempic to treat his diabetes back in 2023. Panicked terror was just around the corner, as four months into his usage of the GLP-1 drug, Engel's vision in his right eye ceased to exist. "I first noticed it on New Year's Eve, 2024," he told Fox News Digital. "I had just gotten out of the shower, was getting ready to go to work and I said to [wife] Shelley, 'I can't see in my right eye. It's totally black. It's totally dark in my right eye'. I was horrified. I was very, very upset that I couldn't see."AdvertHaving sought out testing at The John Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute, he was subsequently diagnosed with non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION), otherwise known as an 'eye stroke'.This life-changing condition can cause sudden and permanent loss of vision, yet Engel nor the doctors were aware of any association between Ozempic's chemical contents and NAION, so he continued taking it. Weight loss jabs such as Ozempic are primarily used to treat diabetes patients (Getty Stock Images)10 months later, the same thing happened to his left eye. "At that point in time, losing sight in both eyes, there was a tremendous amount of concern," reflected Engel. "I didn't go blind — I had my vision taken from me, which was catastrophic to me and to my family". Due to his health, he was forced to stop working for Howard County Highways. "I was extremely mechanically inclined with my hands and in my mind. I can't do that anymore, which is extremely upsetting to me," Engel noted."People want to be able to retire on their own accord when they want to, not when a medical catastrophic injury such as this takes away your livelihood."Tragically, surgery isn't an option to restore his eyesight. "I will never be able to see my wife's beautiful face again, be able to see children and grandchildren, be able to play ball with them," he tragically lamented."I wake up in the dark, I go to sleep in the darkness."Had I known, had my doctor had any inkling that this could have happened... I'm sure he would have asked me and I would have said: 'Absolutely not. I will deal with the diabetes. I refuse to jeopardise my eyes.'"Todd Engel's life has dramatically changed after being prescribed Novo Nordisk's product (Fox News)Danish manufacturer Novo Nordisk is now being sued by the Engel family, alleging that the firm did not warn patients and doctors about the potential health risks connected to its product, Ozempic. In response, Global Head and AVP for Novo, Ambre James-Brown shared in a statement obtained by LADbible: "We recognise that vision loss can have a profound impact on patients and their families."Patient safety is a top priority for Novo, and we take all reports of adverse events seriously. We care deeply about the wellbeing of people who take our medicines and collaborate closely with health authorities and regulatory bodies worldwide. "Semaglutide has a well-established safety profile, supported by robust clinical development programs, with exposure from post-marketing use of over 58 million patient-years across oral and injectable formulations in obesity and type 2 diabetes."Semaglutide has the largest post-marketing exposure among GLP-1-based therapies, providing substantial experience across diverse patient populations. We recommend that all patients maintain close contact with their healthcare professional for proper diagnosis, appropriate treatment, ongoing guidance, and careful monitoring. Novo believes the personal injury lawsuits filed in the US are without merit and we are defending them in court."Featured Image Credit: Nick Hennen/Motley RiceTopics: Ozempic, Health, US News

Katie Zacharia Reveals Why Her First White House Briefing Lasted 14 Minutes

Katie Zacharia Reveals Why Her First White House Briefing Lasted 14 Minutes

Published 17:15 16 Oct 2026 GMT+1The new White House press secretary has explained why she had so little time to prepare for the high-profile appearance.Donald Trump's new White House press secretary Katie Zacharia has responded to criticism of her first press briefing, after the appearance lasted just 14 minutes and drew attention for her visibly nervous delivery. The 42-year-old, who succeeded Karoline Leavitt in the role, faced reporters on Tuesday, taking just three questions during her first appearance behind the White House podium.Speaking to Real America's Voice host Jack Posobiec on Thursday, Zacharia tried to defend herself after the shaky first briefing, claiming she had woken up at '3 in the morning' that day and had not been given 'ample' time to prepare.Zacharia said the briefing materials were not finalized until around 8am on Tuesday, leaving her with little time to prepare for the appearance.AdvertZacharia's first White House press briefing lasted 14 minutes, during which she took three questions from reporters. (Photo by Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images)Why did Katie Zacharia's first White House briefing last 14 minutes?Zacharia explained that the schedule for her first briefing was different from what she would typically expect for the role. She told Posobiec that White House press briefings usually take place at around 1pm or 1:30pm, allowing the press secretary time to consult officials, gather information and prepare before speaking to journalists.Instead, she said she received the briefing materials on Monday, which was Columbus Day, and that they were still being completed the following morning."I never had a full briefing beforehand and I went out and I effectuated the briefing," she said. The short appearance was also intentional, according to Zacharia, who explained that Trump was due to leave Washington, D.C., that morning. She said her original understanding was that the briefing would begin at 9:30am and finish by 10am, leaving time for the president to depart aboard Marine One.Zacharia added that Trump enjoys speaking to reporters during informal exchanges as he boards the helicopter, and she wanted to give him room to do so rather than extend her own briefing.Zacharia said she woke up at 3am on Tuesday to prepare for her first press briefing. She said she was advised against using 'attorney' or 'esquire' and was told to use 'lawyer' instead.Featured Image Credit: Can Hasasu/Anadolu via Getty ImagesTopics: Donald Trump, Politics, US News

Trump Raises Questions Over Katie Zacharia Just Four Days Into Role

Updated 18:46 16 Oct 2026 GMT+1Published 18:29 16 Oct 2026 GMT+1breakingKatie Zacharia has been White House press secretary for just four daysPresident Trump has asked his new press secretary to consider stepping down from the role less than one week after being appointed. Just four days after choosing the former communications adviser for the Trump Media and Technology Group to become his new White House press secretary, Trump has hinted that Katie Zacharia may not be cut out for the role. "Honestly, if I were you, I’d reconsider," Trump said he told Zacharia earlier today (October 16).The president said that the two would speak when they returned to the White House, and would leave the decision in her hands - despite the lack of encouragement. AdvertHe further questioned: "Katie, do you need this? I don’t think you need this."Trump noted that she had so far been treated 'pretty nastily' by the media, and wants her to be 'happy'. "Maybe it’s not for her," he added.Zacharia, 41, claimed that she had wanted to work for the president 'for a very long time', after the news was announced on Monday (October 12).She wrote: "Serving President Trump and the American people at this critical 250-year mark is the honor of a lifetime."President Trump has shown America that we can be great again, and he works to effectuate that greatness every single day."Prior to the blip that has seemingly occurred today, Trump previously described the MAGA supporter as 'loyal and brilliant'."She has an unblemished record of support," the president noted. He further claimed that Zacharia would be 'terrific' in the new role. The confusion comes after her claim to be a lawyer, despite not passing the bar exam.Following Zacharia's first press briefing on Tuesday, the president was asked by reporters: "What state did she pass the bar exam in? You said she is an attorney. Where did she pass the bar exam? Which State?"Trump turned to Zacharia, who was standing beside him, and asked: "Which state?""When I moved to China," she responded. However, seemingly having misunderstood the question, Zacharia later conceded that she had yet to pass the bar exam. The mom-of-four's first press conference also raised eyebrows earlier this week, when she mistakenly referred to the president as her 'husband'.
